C-J Abbey

Pretty and bright, fresh and light. Simple beauty in a casual living space. Layers of neutrals are warmed by the honey glow of the floors and a limited array of colourful accessories. Tying it all together is the wonderful natural light flooding into the rooms. The perfect little urban apartment with a modern country feel by interior designer C-J Abbey.

La Bergerie de Nano

I’d like to introduce you to a unique bed & breakfast, that happens to be a renovated 18th century sheepfold located in the heart of Provence. The rustic beauty of La Bergerie de Nano is breathtaking. I don’t really understand where the idea for the kitchen came from but I adore the rest of this stunning piece of history.

Gabriel Valdivieso

I was doing some googling for blog material the other day and ended up on the website of Brazilian interior designer Gabriel Valdivieso. Some of the spaces in his portfolio looked awfully familiar and I realized he is not only a photographer but a designer as well, responsible for the site Quarto & Sala (I’ve blogged a few times here, here, here and here). These photos are from his residential portfolio. Fairly simple designs but I love his sense of humour (ie. in his wallpaper selections – anatomy-type skeletons on a floral and retro flamingos).

Through the lens of a camera a room comes to life on page and screen. No point and click can suffice to capture the beauty and personality of a well designed space though. It takes an eye and a gift to transport the viewer into the picture, to experience what a room is all about. We know it though as something else… room porn. Gorgeous snaps that make us dream, lust and covet. Welcome to the portfolio of photographer Robin Stubbert.

Interior tailors

Original, creative, tailored, at times a little quirky. Soft furnishings are not often associated with these terms but then the work created by London-based Violet and George is not your average garden variety curtains and cushions. Their unique designs are born of their passion for textiles within interiors. Hairy goat ottomans, Spanish flamenco ruffle drapes, men’s tailored eames chairs and sexy lampshades are just some of my favourites from their portfolio. And for something completely out of the box (and definitely not for everyone) what I can only describe as a carnivorous bunny powder room. Now that’s quirky.
