tcct

Posted on Tue, 18 Sep 2012 by KiM

Tirry Cindy and Tom Callebaut are the designers behind tcct, and interior architecture/design firm from Belgium. They are very in tune to their surroundings and how to create maximum impact with minimal spaces. Their spaces speak volumes without being too aggressive…except maybe that top photo. 🙂 Have a peek in their portfolio – they have even designed a chapel that is unlike any chapel I’ve ever seen.

Stalking the cool life

Posted on Tue, 18 Sep 2012 by midcenturyjo

Too cool! I mean, really, too cool. If I wanted to be a hipster with an apartment to match, if I wanted to be a cool dude on the scene then I think I have found the pad. (OK I think I just gave away my dweeb, nerd status by using words like “hipster”, “cool” and “dude”.) But I don’t care. Look…. a top floor art deco flat in Manly, Sydney. There are even water glimpses. The cafes are just down the road. My new life beckons. A bright, young space for a bright, young thing. I’d beg to keep the furniture. It would complete my hipster transformation. Is it wrong to crave this apartment and this lifestyle at my age? Real estate stalking for a life that isn’t mine. Link here while it lasts.

Amorfo

Amorfo – amorphous, formless, the raw material. Amorfo – the Italian interdisciplinary design firm that explores architecture, interior design, installations, graphics and events. So many of us have seen that home in Elle Decoration and Real Living magazines but I’m drawn to so many facets of their work including their shop fitouts. Rooms where the art of the space and layers of meaning within the design mean just as much as the functional concerns. A minimal stage where product and person are the performance.

Reader’s home – a tiny Swedish apartment

Posted on Mon, 17 Sep 2012 by KiM

Karin, a devoted DTI reader from Umeå, Sweden, is selling her apartment and sent us a link to the real estate listing. It is a tiny studio that has been completely renovated. It’s adorable, and perfect for someone without a lot of stuff – which is SO not me. Although how fun would it be to have a little pied-à-terre in Sweden! I love the little alcove bedroom with handy open clothes storage.

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 17 Sep 2012 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.comand PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!

My Yorkie, Wally, is clearly a little modernist pup (and a fan of Desire to Inspire).

Recently my family and I adopted a 2 week old orphaned kitten from a local vet clinic. His name is….Katherine. Yes, that is what we get for letting our 5 year old daughter name him 🙂 He is very sweet, curious,  and we love him already.

This is Maxwell the Rescue Pup (bichon-maltese mix) lounging on his favorite sofa covered in blue ticking with a Andy Warhol-inspired pop print of his late brother King, a yorkie rescue. Target lamp atop the glass table with leather legs.

Last weekend i went out to get coffee and when i returned, i found Lola like this, on top of our bed.  (She’s not really a pet on furniture kind of girl.) cracked me up she had been caught.
