Villa Can Mar

Posted on Fri, 12 Apr 2013 by KiM

Ibiza is on my top 5 list of places to visit. I would lose my sh*t if I was able to visit and stay in a villa like this. Villa Can Mar is the absolute epitome of Ibiza, zen-inspired style. Achingly cool, this contemporary and minimalist four bedroom home – with its razor sharp, clean, white lines and bold splashes of colour – comes complete with stellar ocean views and famous Ibiza sunsets. Having been created by merging two separate duplexes by JUMA architects in 2012, Villa Can Mar offers ingenious flexibility: certain spaces can be closed off or reconfigured to suit guests’ needs. Deeply glamorous, close to the hub of Ibiza’s action and a stone’s throw from some of the island’s finest beaches, this luxury Ibiza villa can be rented via Paradizo Private Collection.

Mirella Sahetapy

What makes the work of stylist and photographer Mirella Sahetapy so striking? It’s simple. It’s the power of simplicity. Limited, muted colour pallette, clean lines, nothing extanreous, the faded strength of the contast between shadow and soft light. Like a faded Dutch Old Master. Beautiful home – Mirella’s home as it appeared in Elle Decoration, NL. Beautiful portfolio.

Henrybuilt

It’s been several years since I first heard about Henrybuilt kitchens. I have lusted after their kitchens from that moment on. Modern and clean lines yet they exude warmth. We don’t usually blog “products” but this is more about some fabulously designed kitchens, and when the folks at Henrybuilt sent over some photos, I was more than happy to share them here (especially when I heard their new range offers more traditional and rustic options). The next time I’m due for new kitchen cabinets, I’m totally going to harass these folks to hook me up. 😉

A church conversion – victorian to modern

Posted on Thu, 11 Apr 2013 by KiM

One of our lovely readers sent us a link to this phenomenal church conversion in Melbourne, Australia. Bagnato Architects was responsible for this incredible transformation, marrying an 1892 structure with 2012 modernism. From the front you would never know how open and modern the interior is – and the lofty space under the roof is a DREAM. (My only beef – couldn’t the electrical wires stuck to the front of the gorgeous church old façade have been buried underground or at least attached someplace less obtrusively)?

P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JO!!!!!!! (Jo’s birthday is the 12th, but with the 14 hour time difference between us I thought I’d get it in before it’s too late!)

Chinese Jesus

What can you say about a design firm with the moniker of Chinese Jesus? Wow springs to mind. Modern, luxurious, bold with midcentury riffs. Seamless and streamlined layered with texture. Mike Lee, Deborah Rumens and their team in Venice, California create cool, stylin’ sculptural spaces perfect for the modern Mad Men.
