FARM

Posted on Mon, 15 Jul 2013 by KiM

FARM is a multi-disciplinary firm based in Singapore, whose work includes interior design and architecture. The Brick Loft is a fun project of theirs where a second floor office was converted into an industrial loft. The perfect home for anyone into very graphic designs, as there are several brick-wall effects throughout the space.

Here is another project of theirs that caught my eye. Serving as the home for an architectural academic, her family and an enormous collection of books, meant that the study had to come first. The house was built in the late 1960s and we wanted to keep the original feel of those terrace houses with its generous balconies and bedrooms. The study was given pride of place at the front of the house on the ground floor, facing a new walled garden, and the rest of the house fell naturally into place.

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 15 Jul 2013 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is dark or fuzzy then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.comand PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!

I was doing a long overdue re-shoot of my ceramic chimes and after about 60 shots of the chimes I moved the couch back into place and my pup Ennis jumped up there. This was literally my last shot to see if i could catch him and it turned out the best.

Wellie, my 15 week old Cavalier King Charles sitting on an antique chair I re-upholstered with Quadrille China Seas.

I live in a one-bedroom apartment in Washington, DC with my husband and our 1 and a 1/2 year old lab-beagle rescue, Korus (Korus stands for Korea-US Free Trade Agreement; I’m from Korea and my husband is American 😉 She is a rambunctious little girl, and we love her to pieces.
1 – Korus used to love this chair until it became wobbly. The chair is from Target, and painting is by my aunt.
2 – Korus on our couch – it was an EBay find.
3 – Korus on our bed. My handy husband made the headboard out of an old church pew and wool felt. Bedding is from West Elm.

When 9-month-old Little Glory (the tortoiseshell) isn’t tormenting 18-year-old Nora, they hang on the sofa or the cane chair.

My itty bitty pretty, “Mittens” having a snooze on her favorite rattan chair.

These are my two rescues, Beau, our 5 year old pit mix and Joy, our dilute torti kitten (pic taken at 4 months). They hit it off from day one and enjoy taunting me from my own bed, where they “technically” aren’t supposed to be.

Atomic

A quirky kitchen and living area for midcentury coffee aficionados. Or should that be addicts? What do I love more? The little coffee making area? The midcentury furniture? The mesh wall divider? The retro finishes? No, if I was honest, I must admit that I have a serious case of espresso machine envy. How can someone own that many Atomic coffee machines? A fab design by South Australian interior design firm Koush.

Clifton Beach

Beachside living has never been so glamorous. ANTONI ASSOCIATES, the Interior Design and Décor division of the South African architectural firm SAOTA, have created a white and white interior that is sophisticated and luxurious with classically elegant overtones yet breaks out to an amazing al fresco entertaining area that is the signature of both these firms. A glass walled double void connects the upper and lower flows while providing a stunning backdrop to the study’s fireplace. White hot elegance on a hot white beach.

Carol is a graphic designer, illustrator, stationary goods designer, blogger living in beautiful Costa Rica. Her blog is Oh yei! It’s a new favourite of mine (found via Instagram) so I thought I’d do a little introduction today, featuring her photos from around her home. Enjoy!
