Stalking a sleek white tradition

Posted on Thu, 18 Jul 2013 by midcenturyjo

For those who have lamented in comments recently of the propensity of Australians to tack on the equivalent of a law firm’s modern waiting room to the back of an historic home here is a little traditional stalking. All be it sleek and white and cool. Woollahra, Sydney. Link here while it lasts.

Spring & Mercer

Ultimate urban chic. That’s how the designers Spring & Mercer describe this Covent Garden show apartment. A desaturated palette, custom furniture, a nod to the mid century and a distinct masculine vibe. Ultimate urban chic indeed.

Coffeeklatch extras

Here are a few photos that really piqued my interest on Coffeeklatch

A black wall is always a good thing. And ceramic deer just make me happy.

LOVE this industrial cart for storage – especially cool in a kitchen.

This raw wood flooring is a dream.

Perfect art in a kitchen.

Coffeeklatch

Coffeeklatch is a creative chitchat, an original and personal way for Magali Elali and Bart Kiggen to go and look for inspiring personalities and intriguing stories. The online magazine showcases pictures and interviews with creative entrepreneurs in their homes, addressing various disciplines. Coffeeklatch stands for slow journalism using a fast medium. A big thanks to Tom for letting us know about this Belgian site/online mag. I am a huge fan of sites like this that tour ‘regular’ and creative people’s homes – like The Selby and Freunde von Freunden, and this one is right up there in terms of quality. Here are a glimpse into several homes they have featured (there are fashion designers, musicians, photographers, choreographers…)

Stalking a loft 2

Posted on Wed, 17 Jul 2013 by midcenturyjo

My second loft space is in South Melbourne. In, wait for it, a former biscuit and cake factory. Who wouldn’t want to live in a cake factory? A little warmer with a bit more personality than the first loft. I could see myself moving in and just adding a few more of my tchotchkes and a splash of colour. It’s a tad brown for me at the moment. There’s a cellar too. Perhaps a dungeon man cave for my husband? Link here while it lasts.
