Stalking a fab five

Posted on Thu, 11 Aug 2016 by midcenturyjo

Listing here.

These are not leftovers (although I might do some tweaking). Oh no. I’m stalking five amazing homes in Sydney and Melbourne. I’d move in to all of them in a heart beat. The problem is I can’t afford one let alone five. Oh well a girl can dream. One or two you may recognise from previous designer features but it’s always interesting to see how the real estate agents and owners pitch them. Two images per house but click on the links to go to the listings for lots of lovely pictures. Via realestate.com.au.

A Haussmannian apartment in Bordeaux

Posted on Wed, 10 Aug 2016 by KiM

I really don’t know how the French manage to be so damn chic all the time! This Haussmannian apartment in Bordeaux, France was formerly offices and architect Daphné Serrado worked some magic to transform it into an absolutely decadent residential space filled with original features that are drop-dead gorgeous. She also designed most of the new elements such as the kitchen, library, office, bathrooms. The classic old and the modern new work so well in contrast with each other.

A remodeled home in San Francisco

Posted on Wed, 10 Aug 2016 by KiM

As I prepare this post ready I am packing my bags and booking a flight to San Francisco because I am moving in!!! This house is amazing! Thank you to interior designers Lisa and Tiffany of MANSFIELD + O’NEIL for sharing this project. Our clients loved their prime location in a sylvan setting of the Bay Area (Marin) hills; however, they rejected the suburban aesthetics of the former house and were tired of its dark, compartmentalized interiors. The complete remodel transformed the house into a light-filled, open plan jewel-box of a house that now delights the family and fosters gracious California indoor-outdoor living. The furniture and finishings are edited and modern, but still approachable and family-friendly, accommodating two professional parents, twin teenage boys, and a lively dog. The focus of this project was on quality of space, materials, and finishings – not the quantity – and it’s restrained footprint and interior epitomizes clean, considered design. The perfect prescription

Posted on Wed, 10 Aug 2016 by midcenturyjo

The symptoms of Hump Day are a general malaise, increasing tiredness, a reduction in mental agility and profound attitude changes. But I have the perfect prescription to cure your mid week blues. It involves a computer screen, a few minutes stolen from your working day and a daydream about an escape to a Sydney beach house with stunning ocean views. Avalon Lighthouse via Contemporary Hotels.

A retro beach house in Malibu

Posted on Tue, 9 Aug 2016 by KiM

You may be able to get away with anything in Malibu, but what this home lacks for in typical Malibu OTT style or modern to the extreme is made up for in retrolicious funk. I would prefer this any day, anywhere. The Archers making spaces deliciously good once again.
