Stalking on a Saturday

Posted on Sat, 18 Nov 2017 by midcenturyjo

A glimpse of a very contemporary addition to the side of the facade is a dead giveaway that this home in Melbourne’s Fitzroy North is not what it seems from the street. I’m stalking an Edwardian era red brick home with a industrial modern extension. Love the play of the black steel against the brick and the monumental kitchen island with its rich green tiles and old timber beams. Link here while it lasts.

A bright, playful home

Neutral walls and floors call for bold accessorizing. In this case Shauna Glenn went all out in the colour and pattern department to turn her home from bland into WOW!!! I had to start this post off with her bathroom because it is drop dead gorgeous!

A colourful family home in London

LLI Design recently completed a total redesign and refurbishment of a 7 storey townhouse in Highgate, a leafy and desirable part of London. By changing the dynamics of the spaces involved they maximized the available space creating a colourful and contemporary residence. This award winning project has a harmonious feel as you move up the house, but each floor has its own character. The end result? A warm and inviting family home.

Small city garden with big impact

The downside of living inner city is often outdoor space is very limited. This Bondi, Sydney house has only the tiniest of backyards, more courtyard than wide open spaces. That didn’t stop design and construction design-it landscapes from creating a perfectly formed oasis complete with jewel-like plunge pool. So many ideas to inspire your small space gardening.

When modern is warm

I had to share another to-die-for home designed by the talented folks of cityhomeCOLLECTIVE. Modern and a bit mid-century, with black and brass accents to add some drama and wood to keep things warm. I want that kitchen soooo badly, but I would settle for the rug in the space above.
