In the heart of every space lies its soul, a whisper of history, a resonance of the present, and an echo of what could be. At The Flair Interiors, we embark on a journey that transcends the conventional, embracing the essence of genius loci, celebrating patina, dancing with grandeur, and infusing a decadent soul into every creation.
Rome based designer Teodora Diana Montanaro was raised by a Lebanese-Romanian art historian mother and a Swedish-English antiques art dealer father and grew up around art, antiques, literature and historical spaces. And now lives and works in one of the most beautifully historic cities in the world. It’s no wonder she’s got such a keen eye and a love for all things old and original.

Vita Sackville-West, the poet and writer, began transforming Sissinghurst Castle Garden in the 1930s with her diplomat and author husband Harold Nicolson. Delos is one of ten garden rooms at Sissinghurst. It had originally been built in response to a visit that Harold and Vita had made in 1935 to the ruins of the Greek island of this name in the Cyclades. In 2014, Head Gardener Troy Scott Smith invited Dan Pearson to act as Garden Advisor to Sissinghurst. Four years later in 2018, Troy invited Dan and his studio to work with him and his team to re-imagine the garden. (Info via National Trust)
I have never seen a garden like this and my mind is completely blown. As much as I adore a lush, almost overgrown and “wild” garden, this barren, Mediterranean style stone garden is spectacular, and made even more special with a castle in the background.

I found a feature on this home via Elle Decoration that calls this “English eccentricity meets American maximalism”. It is layer upon layer of a mixed bag of patterns and colours and is so random you can’t help but inspect every inch and fall in love. J’adore!!! Designed by Henri Fitzwilliam-Lay. Wisteria Cottage – Detached 5 bed Victorian cottage with a modern timber & glass and critical extension, with a large garden that overlooks farm fields. The garden also has a separate timber built 2 bed cabin with modern rustic interiors. The downstairs is mainly open plan with a large modern kitchen, which has a 100 year old olive growing out of the kitchen island. The open plan downstairs consists of a large garden room, kitchen, kitchen diner, dining room, utility, snug/5th bedroom, office and downstairs toilet. There are 7 sets of double crittal doors that open out onto different parts of the garden overlooking farm fields and an 11th century church and graveyard. The first floor has 4 double bedrooms, three with ensuites and a family bathroom which has an antique roll top copper bath.
This home has both modern and rustic spaces which is a heavenly combination (IMHO). Also if I can somehow get a built in planter for an olive tree in my next house…. Location home available via Shoot Factory.
