Two Polish homes today! (Don’t you love visiting other countries?) First up Barbara, a student, sent us photos of her room. It’s a great example of stylish DIY on a strict student’s budget. Easy to see why Barabara’s space is so cute. Just check out the lovely jewellery she makes (in this same small room) on her blog Bibelot.

Our second reader’s room today is from Monika who shares her home with her pets… just not your usual pets. I’ll let her explain. “It’s a pretty hard job to make the house/room where you have lots of animals look good. Of course I’m not talking about dogs breeders but about rodents. Lots of cages and stuff everywhere. I am a happy gerbils breeder, there are about 30 gerbils, just in 12m2 and I hate when house is a mess because of it. That’s why I decided to build some cages for my rodents using IKEA and a little bit of imagination.” Monika I think it’s brilliant! I want to come back in my next life as one of your gerbils. This is such a clever idea for kids’ rooms. Rodents, insects, snakes, lizards. See – things that make you go eeeeekkk can be stylish too!

A while back during a random google search I came across a feature on the Australian website mecho of a modern beach style apartment in Clovelly, Australia. Styled by Allison Warner and photographed by Natalie Hunfalvay, the following photos are so beautiful and the spaces soooo perfectly styled. Simply gorgeous.

Wow! If modern design is your thing you’ll be smitten by the work of Barcelona based architecture firm YLAB – Yolanda Yuste Lopez and Tobias Laarmann. This design duo and their team create outstanding spaces with minimal clean lines, a muted colour palette, strong textural elements and clever spatial solutions. Far from being cold, their spaces are sophisticated and clever. The first apartment is a penthouse refit with a luxury hotel vibe. New space layout, new surfaces and fittings and furniture design. Cool and elegant. The second apartment is just too fabulous for words. The bathroom is a dream. Obviously Interiores magazine thought so to. The same week Yolanda shared their work with us I picked up a copy and there was their work. Watch out for this architectural studio. They’re hot!

What is it about Swedish homes and Swedish real estate websites? Look at this fabulous 2 level apartment. White, just enough old with new, obviously a great location, a balcony for more than just a couple of chairs… think party for all your friends, a brick wall to die for, cool spiral staircase (perhaps a liability with all those balcony parties) and lots of light shining in. (where Canadians kicked Russian ass I might add), I had to amuse myself in between goals so I painted my toenails for the first time since September-ish and was surfing the net a bit when I came across the site for French Canadian shelter mag Décormag, which I hadn’t visited in some time. I was pleasantly surprised to find an eclectic and funky pad which is unlike the usual style of this magazine. It’s the downtown Vancouver apartment of designers Chad Farquharson and Wayne McGill of We Live Like This Design and Styling. LOVE THIS.
