The other day I was talking to my twin about how much I love neutral, earthy spaces but with lots of dark pieces mixed in because drama is always necessary, and fabrics with lots of texture and warmth to them. I feel like L.A. designer Katie Hodges has really nailed what I had in mind with this home she designed. There is a uniqueness to each room which I can also appreciate.

The family friendly, dynamic and spirited vibe of this home is not quite what you’d expect when the exterior is a conventional Colonial home. I LOVE the unexpected!!!  When the homeowners moved into this 1920’s center hall colonial in Essex Fells, New Jersey, they envisioned a comfortable, livable home where family and friends can kick off their shoes and unwind. The brief: Repurposed rooms, reinvented family heirlooms and a riot of color and pattern equal an unfussy environment that embraces the craziness of life with three young children. Perfectly Imperfect. Brazilian designer Sig Bergamin is taking maximalism to a place where colour is IN YOUR FACE and art is KEY and patterns are BOLD and abundant. This cottage he designed has an energy that is inimitable.

Part gallery, part apartment, all style. The Milan loft home of Tommaso Spinzi of Spinzi Design a Milan and Melbourne based interior design firm is inspirational and aspirational. I think I’d take one of everything from contemporary to design classics from the 70s and 80s. It’s my kryptonite.
