Soon. I know it won’t be too far away. I just have to make it through another month then spring will slide into summer. Days in the sun, the taste of salt in the air, sand squeaking underfoot, waves slapping the beach in my sleep. Until hot sunny days are actually here I’ll keep my summer dream alive with these photos of a bijoux holiday bolthole in Provincetown by interior designer Glenn Ban.
Sometimes simple… and stylish… is just right. Especially in a summer getaway and especially in Sag Harbor in the Hamptons. Who needs a big, flashy pile when you can enjoy this pretty little cottage by Glenn Ban.
Sometimes a spectacular view can all but overwhelm any attempt to decorate a room. Either the room pales in comparison or the view and the room fight each other to the death. Definitely not the case in this harbourside home in Sydney by EB Interiors. A palette of moody blues, an emphasis on strong contemporary lines and bespoke joinery provide the stage for the subtle textures and pops of colour from soft furnishings and wallpaper.
What a fabulous beach house designed by Threshold Interiors! This Jersey Shore Craftsman is so pleasing to the eye with lots of fun touches like graphic floor tile (and fireplace surround), wallpaper (love that Farrow & Ball Aranami pattern in the bathroom), and the bathrooms are absolutely stunning. And what about this kitchen!! Subway tile, copper, and pale grey cabinets make it timeless and polished.
Thursday – the sad forgotten sister of Friday. No one ever yells “Thank God it’s Thursday”. No one ever counts down the last few hours until after work drinks or the freedom of the weekend. Thursday is a plod-along day, a “let’s get it over so we can go to sleep and yell TGIF the next morning” sort of day. So here is my Thursday gift to you, a virtual escape to brighten up the stolid workaday. Tamarind Beach at Paradise Cove, a compound of three houses (for vacation rental) in the tropical paradise of Vanuatu. A sophisticated taste of island life steps from crystal blue waters and coral reefs. This is one virtual getaway I wish I could make in real life.
