Beauty at the beach

Posted on Wed, 27 Jun 2012 by midcenturyjo

ScavulloDesign created the interiors of this weekender just steps away from the water in Stinson beach, California. Large doors and windows bring the outside in while the sandy colour palette and blue accents of course give the coastal vibe but the interiors are in no way cliched. Casually elegant and family friendly, durable and darling from wicker to waterproof fabrics. Finally, accents throughout reflect the relaxed feel and include the family’s collection of sea shells that they have found on the beach outside. What a lovely spot to get away to.

Party by the beach

Where the rainforest meets the sea on a Brazilian island there is a sliver of sand. Where the rainforest meets the sea there are palm trees. Where the rainforest meets the sea there is a house. A stone house and concrete and glass house. A perfect beach party house. Casa Paraty by Marcio Kogan of Studio MK27.

Steep stalking

Oh the view! Oh the vertigo! Aside from heart palpitations climbing up to this lovely home and the fact that the family dog will need to be replaced by the family goat it’s worth it for the view. I’m real estate stalking in exclusive Palm Beach on the northern beaches of Sydney. Stone and sea and palms. I just want to curl up with a coffee and magazine and be mesmerised as the waves roll in. Link here while it lasts.

White and wood and sea

I couldn’t think of a more beautiful place to live. The solidity of the white home facing a relentless grey sea. Timbers aged the colour of the waves and sky. Simple furnishings and fittings belie the everyday luxury. Just enough of everything to make life sweet and always that view taking your breath away. Martin Gómez Arquitectos… again. South American design is blowing me away at the moment. Simply stunning. La Aduana, La Barra, Punta del Este, Uruguay.

Honeymoon

It’s my niece’s wedding tomorrow. I thought I’d give her a virtual honeymoon. Of course I went to Welcome Beyond to find the perfect boutique hotel. How about Ratua Private Island? Seriously sexy. Seriously simple. Seriously the perfect spot for the perfect honeymoon. Congratulations Jane and Chris! You’ll just need to pack some swimmers, sarong and maybe a t-shirt?
