A while back during a random google search I came across a feature on the Australian website mecho of a modern beach style apartment in Clovelly, Australia. Styled by Allison Warner and photographed by Natalie Hunfalvay, the following photos are so beautiful and the spaces soooo perfectly styled. Simply gorgeous.

Pleasant surprises come in all forms including comments on blogs that lead to websites and on to gorgeous rooms. I love the casual natural mix part costal, a little french, a little farmhouse, lots of earthy textures and relaxed family style of these spaces by interior designer Lyndsy Woods of L Kae Interiors. So livable and so lovely. And I found her because of a comment. Don’t you love the internet?!

The old adage is true especially if this “fisherman’s shack” is in your price range. OMG the view, the boathouse, the wonderful retro vibe of the main house. If you buy this for $4 million (yes! that’s not a typo) please spend a little more on the interiors (or employ a better photographer AND a stylist for the next photo shoot) to make the dream complete. I can tell you I won’t be the new owner! Just a little too out of my price range. Link here while it lasts.

It’s been quite some time since Jo blogged about the interior design work of Chicago based Kara Mann. I thought I’d take another peak at her creations, which “reflects a luxury lifestyle with clean lines, warm layers and timeless designs”. This time it’s an ocean front villa that appears to be a little slice of heaven (inside and outside). *sigh*

Marit, a DTI regular, wrote us recently about her resort in Indonesia and we had to share this dreamy place with everyone. Those of you living through a terrible winter (like myself), I am warning you that the photos below might result in a few tears shed so I recommend having a tissue on hand. “Your blog has been a big inspiration to me as we’ve been designing our resort and home in West Papua, Indonesia. We’re an eco resort in the true sense of the word, using only reclaimed wood in the construction of our 11 cottages, dive shop, restaurant, and pier. I could go on and on about that stuff, but I think the aspect that might be of most interest to you is our Water Cottages, designed by UK-born but Australian-based architect Viv Faithfull at WH Architects in Melbourne. There are 8 of them built on stilts over a tranquil lagoon.”

“I designed the sideboard in the first photo and our Javanese craftsmen built it. It took 18 men to move it into place! The rattan furniture was made in one of the local villages. Together with Conservation International, we made a project to bring rattan artisans from Bali to Papua. The local villagers now have an income that doesn’t rely on unsustainable exploitation of marine resources. And we have great, locally made furniture!”
