My house is in uproar. Dust and paint drips, kitchen contents in the dining room, clothes racks in the living room. I’m in the throes of a major renovation and all I want to do is escape. Alas I can only take a virtual getaway but what a destination! The stunning stone masseria in Sicily called Dimora delle Balze has eleven hotel rooms in total. I can’t make up my mind which one I like the most but seeing this is a daydream I can linger long enough to try them all. Meet you in the gardens for a long lunch extending into the warm evening.

Hopefully you caught this post on Tuesday of a glimpse into an iconic apartment here in Ottawa recently transformed by designer Henrietta Southam. It featured the more public spaces and in this post I will share the bedroom and bathrooms. The bedroom is a unique and serene oasis and the creation of a headboard through some drywall cutouts is absolutely stunning. Also stunning are those french doors! In the bathrooms are something that can be found in likely every project of Henrietta’s and has become a signature of her style – floor to ceiling tile. Also worthy of noting how in the master bathroom, Henrietta added in tile strips in more elegant, expensive tile to add some glitz to the simpler main tile. A genius touch. I’ve been strolling scrolling the streets of the Melbourne bay side suburb of St Kilda on my favourite real estate website when I was stopped in in my voyeuristic tracks. I think I’ve found my dream home. Ivy threatens to engulf the walls of this Arts and Crafts home with its otherwise clipped and manicured garden. Inside it’s all designer style with colour, art and the fun of family life. Still scrolling the streets of Daylesford and I’ve found another modern take on a country getaway. This rural retreat has a signature style with David Bromley artworks as well as rooms covered with his wallpaper. It’s bright and stylish mix of vintage and modern, fun and quirky. I took a stroll through the Victorian country town of Daylesford today or should I say scroll through the real estate listings.
