Living in the jungle

Posted on Wed, 20 Apr 2016 by midcenturyjo

Over the years Kim and I have been fascinated by the homes of Sera Hersham-Loftus or should I say the reinvention of her homes. The queen of the boudoir look with its seductive, glamorous and over-the-top trappings is also the queen of the quick change, of reinvigorating her glorious spaces. Kim last featured her house a year ago but when I recently visited the Sera of London website, voila, her house had evolved into a glamazon jungle with the addition of even more houseplants than her usual parlour palms. It’s spring, only it’s inside. I love the look but can you imagine watering day?!

London loft love

What a stunning loft. This 1200 sq ft space in London is a dream with massive windows along one entire side, concrete ceilings, white painted floorboards, and an eclectic touch with stained glass doors and windows and patterned tile. I would maybe redo the kitchen and add some actual cabinetry to make it more functional. Other than that the decor is really fun and random with an fairly simple colour pallet. LOVE this. Amanda Masters – a bright beach house

This beach house designed by Amanda Masters is EVERYTHING. Dear gawd I love this. The all white backdrop makes all of the fun and rustic vintage pieces the focus, and bold textiles with lots of pattern pop. It is bohemian chic at its finest.

Bohemian rhapsody

A boho beauty. That’s how I’d describe this TriBeCa, New York loft by Deborah French Designs. A celebration of colour and pattern, layered with texture, patina and lovingly collected curios. Life was meant to be lived to the full and how could you not in such a wonderfully exuberant home.

Norwegian inspiration

Before I dash off to another day of craziness at the Ottawa Antique & Vintage Market to help with hubby’s Daff Design booth, I wanted to share these spaces from Norwegian magazine KK Living that left me drooling all over my keyboard. I particularly adore the home of Line Evensen featured in the photos before the jump – such a wonderfully eclectic mix of styles that is so random it works.
