Colour crush

Posted on Wed, 3 Oct 2012 by midcenturyjo

If colour is contagious then I’m in trouble. These fun rooms are infectious and fabulous. If you are starting to think all white scandi rooms are anaemic and washed out then a colour infusion is just what you might need. Spin the colour wheel and see where it lands. If interior designer Katie Rosenfeld has anything to do with it then it will always be a winner.

Julia Green

Did you love the styling for the Inside Out feature on Steve and Helena Trupp of Empirical Style in the last post? As soon as I found out it was by Julia Green of Greenhouse Interiors I hot footed it over to her website and oohed and aahed. Vintage + colour + collections + layers + crafted and found = a quirky, fun, vibrant and down right happy portfolio. Rooms full of treasure without being “precious’. Just the way I want to live!

Barbara Saskia

Barbara Saskia is an interior designer based in New York City with a slightly quirky sense of style – and personality. You don’t hear this much, but Barbara uses astrology as a design tool. Allrighty. Well, whatever the heck she uses, it works. I really like her sometimes bohemian, sometimes modern, but always casual approach to design.

Maristela Gorayeb

I was pleasantly surprised when I came across the portfolio of Brazilian interior designer Maristela Gorayeb. Her style is a favourite of mine – a mix of ethnic and modern. She works with each, and the 2 in conjunction, so beautifully. It’s about neutral backdrops with jewel tones pops of colour and lots of textures and patterns. Maristela’s vibe is not for minimalists nor die-hard modernists. 🙂

tcct

Tirry Cindy and Tom Callebaut are the designers behind tcct, and interior architecture/design firm from Belgium. They are very in tune to their surroundings and how to create maximum impact with minimal spaces. Their spaces speak volumes without being too aggressive…except maybe that top photo. 🙂 Have a peek in their portfolio – they have even designed a chapel that is unlike any chapel I’ve ever seen.
