Paris-based interior designer Caroline Andréoni is turning dreamy Paris apartments into bold and vivacious spaces with the addition of wallpaper, graphic tile, dark paint colours, modern lighting. Keeping my belief strong that Paris has some of the coolest apartments out there.

The Houses Daylesford – L’Papillon

In case you’d like something a little more intimate, a little less rambling for our virtual getaway in Victoria’s spa region we can always stay at L’Papillon, another fabulous property in the The Houses Daylesford portfolio. This stylish renovated 1890’s cottage is located in a quiet street just a short walk from the main street of the town of Daylesford. It has a warm, moody feel with beautiful detail and at two bedrooms is perfect for 4, 6 at a pinch if we use the fold out beds in the library.

A California Swiss chalet

Prepare to be amazed at how funky a Swiss style chalet can get. Studio Shamshiri was commissioned to renovate and restore a 3,500 square-foot Southern Californian estate built by Myron Hunt in 1906. The two-story, single-family dwelling sits on approximately two acres and was one of only fifteen Swiss chalet designed houses built in California during that period. The design concept pays homage to the property’s history, taking notes from the client’s personalities with accents of soft pinks, greens and burgundies. A rich assortment of furniture, textiles and objects strongly influenced by fashion and fantasy completed the character of this home. Photos: Shade Degges

Sean Anderson goes dark

Memphis interior designer Sean Anderson (from this past feature, and this one) has serious skills when it comes to creating white, neutral, naturally textured spaces, but it seems he can also nail dark spaces like nobody’s business. The secret ingredient in his case is keeping the floors bright and white. The sunlight bounces off of them and adds dimension, while evading the cave-like nature of having really dark walls. GORG!!!
