If you’re going to San Francisco

Posted on Tue, 12 May 2020 by midcenturyjo

Warm and sophisticated with a tight colour palette of greens, tan and cream with pops of dramatic black this San Francisco house has ample entertaining spaces with low slung furniture to accentuate rather than block the view.  After all if your Russian Hill home looks out to Alcatraz Island then it’s always going to be about the view. What an absolutely beautiful and relaxing weekend home in the country. I could absolutely move right in. Kevin Dumais and his husband, Charlie, bought and refurbished a three-bedroom clapboard house in rural Connecticut. Major cosmetic renovations included a completely remodeled kitchen and installation of ebony-stained oak floor throughout. The owners made this weekend house their own with mid-century furnishings, fresh white walls, and a range of inviting textures—turning a humble 1940s Cape into a fine example of updated country chic in the process.

Working on a Saturday

Posted on Sat, 2 May 2020 by midcenturyjo

Another week has passed. Another Saturday. Lockdown restricttions are slowly being lifted in my part of the world. We have been so lucky here. Others continue to be trapped in the nightmare that is the corona pandemic. It’s still a scary world out there and weekend work (or any work) is somewhere in a hazy future. And in that hazy future if we have to drag ourselves into work on a Saturday (or in this case yoga work out) it better be somewhere stylish like United Physiotherapy Group by Studio Ezra.

Earthy modern

This is an apartment I can get behind, and move into immediately. Clean lines, earth tones with hits of mustard yellow (I loooooove yellow), deep ochre(?) and salmon. Lots of comfy places to sit surrounded by pale woods and chalky walls. Appealing to the masses. By interior design duo Espejo & Goyanes. (Jo featured them back in February).

Working on a Saturday

Another week has passed. Another Saturday. Some of us can see that elusive light at the end of that clichéd tunnel. Others continue to be trapped in the nightmare that is the corona pandemic. It’s still a scary world out there with most of us in lockdown in our homes and weekend work (or any work) is somewhere in a hazy future. And in that hazy future if we have to drag ourselves into work on a Saturday it better be somewhere stylish like the DOK Office in Kortrijk by Belgian design firm Decancq-Otté Architecten.
