Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 10 Dec 2012 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.comand PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!

This is Sumo, my sister’s Yorkie! I was dogsitting this week and thought he looked real sweet on my armchair!
– Justine (Montreal)

Since Bongo got quite used to his celebrity status following your recent publication of his picture, here he is again, this time on another of his favourite spots: an ancient Bertoia Diamond chair – it may be old, but with a comfy piece of fur, it works just fine 🙂
– Marta (Montreal)

This is Skima, my pet fox, but not really though (she’s an Icelandic Sheepdog). She is a major pillow hog. When she’s not controlling every single centimeter of the bed, this is her favourite place to be, on our old pinstripe sofa, or as we say in Swedish – polkagrissoffa.
– Stella (Stockholm, Sweden)

This is Mini, My chihuahua/yorkie/baby, that my husband and I rescued last year.  She thinks she’s queen and stays in bed long after I wake up. Bed from IKEA, quilt made by my wonderful Nana.
– Samantha

Here are my two beauties Pete and his daughter Lola!
– Randy

The first is a photo of Cookie, our 6 month old Shih Tzu/Bichon mix rescue puppy. She recently was spayed and has been tolerating her “cone of shame” very well. Normally she prefers to nap on the sofa with a soft blanket, but this day she chose the Ikea Poang chair. I had to snap a picture quickly with my phone before she decided to jump down so the quality isn’t great, but I thought the cone almost looked like a halo around her head and I couldn’t resist sharing. The second is a photo of Cookie lounging on the sofa (pre-surgery). She is adorable, sweet, and clearly has no modesty!
– Becky (Missouri)

This is Lola, my beagle of eleven months old, she loves to sit in this chair, made by artisans in Tlacotalpan Mexico and watch by the window neighborhood.
– Carolina (Xalapa, Mexico)

Clutch the dog.
– Shamara

This is my little baby. His name is TY which stands for Tiny Yorkie. He is my best friend and he sleeps on my bed, but not always in his, which is on top of mine. And he hates his picture taken.

this is my sweet little Dante, an italian greyhound pup. He loves good design and sunbathing on his favourite Bertoia.
– Juan (Barcelona)

This photo was taken about six years ago of my greyhound, Ender the only time he ever got on my sofa! He never even tried to get on my sofa and he was such a gentleman. So I had to take a photo. Apparently he used to get on the sofa of his babysitter at her house and it was OK. This was my very first sofa and I don’t have it or much of the furniture in the photo anymore. But I wanted to post this because early Thanksgiving morning last week, I had to send my sweet (13-1/2 year old) Ender to the Rainbow Bridge. He was the gentlest, sweetest loyal spirit I have ever known.
Sparky

His name is hank. 7 months old. Adler pillow. Modernica easy chair.
Michael (Ottawa)

This is Walter, our 5-year-old bearded collie/terrier mix (?) who loves to sit here by the radiator and watch the squirrels. He is sitting on an antique stool, covered in a sheepskin to protect it.
– Sarah (Massachusetts)

Here is Sadie the Boston Terrier resting on a vintage arm chair we found at a local thrift store. There are no markings on the chair and we would love to know more about it!
– Lindsay (Skippack, PA)

The attached photo is of our dog Molly, a chihuahua/terrier cross and she is sitting on our lovely chaise also known as Molly’s bed.
– Robin (Victoria, BC)

The first photo is of Olivia sleeping in our bowl from AREA on top of our Ikea shelving unit. The second photo is of Olivia next to our crystal Atlantis liquor bottles.
– Teresa (Lisbon, Portugal)

This is a picture of my sweet little Lucy posing for the camera atop her throne.
– George (Alabama)

this is my boyfriends dog Ax, 1,5 year old Jack Russell Terrier. We do not allow him to be on a furniture, so I send you a picture of him in front my grandmas old vintage chair 🙂 We love old, new design & our cute dog :))))
– Andreja (Slovenia)

Please meet Rose, my parents’ persian cat, first lounging on the ottoman, and second trying to relax in a filing box a bit too small for her. Rose is the sweetest cat I’ve ever known. (Please note the awesome bookcase in the background of the first picture, entirely made by my handyman of a father of whom I am so proud!).
– Audrey (Montréal)

Here is a picture of my cat Bongo, who absolutely loves to lounge in my favourite Bird chair. Sometimes we have to fight for it!
– Marta (Montreal)

This is my very naughty, but looking like an angel in this photo, 1 year old Groodle Murphy. It’s a fight every morning to get him off my bed (Ikea Bed Frame, Marie Claire Bedding, Artwork Original) to start the day.
– Lauren

my dog oliver in my baby’s nursery. baby is due in late December – my dog thinks the new room is for him!
– Cynthia (Marin County, California)

Here are some photos of Lily, my gorgeous cat! Sprawled on a Risom stool and an Eames lounge, acting like she owns the place!
– Sarah (Sydney, Australia)

Attached you will find a picture of Betty. She is one of two black and white cats at my sister’s house. She is quite shy and must stay well out of arm’s reach at all times. Here she is hiding under my sister’s Target chair.
– Natalie (Oglesby, IL)

This is Nutmeg in Syracuse, NY catching some winks on the aptly named Sleeper from Bensen.
– Joan

This is Sam(antha), our 4 year old American Staffordshire Terrier/Shepherd mix, having made a nest of the blankets and pillows on our couch while my fiance and I were at work for the day.
– Kele (Newark, DE)

1 – Here is Phoebe lounging in her favorite corner of the tan sectional in our SE Portland Apartment. She is a black pug, and she is a throw pillow hog.
2 – Here is Phoebe sitting on the back of the sectional. Breaking the one furniture rule her dad, Jake, set.

I sent you a picture you featured of our Great Dane squeezing onto the same chair. Apparently our dogs like to squish! Hope your readers will enjoy.
Lindsay R.

This is my dog Oliver sitting on my favorite (and his favorite) chair. The chair was my grandfather’s and purchased some time in the 40’s. My grandfather had it in his bedroom since he bought it, and until the day he died in 2009. It was one of few things that I requested from his house. It is special to me because it belonged to him, and now it is also special because Oliver has claimed it. I like to think it makes my grandfather happy to know that this little dog likes his chair so much! 🙂
– Lindsay A.

Here is a photo of our two lovely dogs; Hank the sheep working dog (Kelpie) and Hugo (Weimaraner) on our bed. They love the faux fur blanket!
– Lauren and Clayton (Australia)

I send you photos of one of my 5 adopted cats. His name is Białek (Whity) and he loves snoozing on the couch in my living room.
– Ewa (Kalisz – central Poland)

This is Lido, the Japanese Chin on the vintage Grasshopper chair, in a warm spot by the window.
– Tina Evans (Tucker, Ga)

Here’s a picture of Shiloh, my lab/rottie from Dogwood Rescue in West Vancouver, laying in the lap of luxury.
– Jacci (White Rock, BC)

This is my rescued kitty Hermes testing out a new chair, also rescued, from the curb. both were great finds! i think the chair passed the snooze test.
Dana

my dogs name is Azul. he just loves to sleep in mamas bed
– Laura (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

1 – This photo is from a fun project I am just starting which is made up of double exposed portraits of Ben (my rescued Standard Poodle) around the house. He loved taking this one because there were a million treats involved since we had to keep everything in the room perfectly in place for a few shots.
2 – During Hurricane Sandy my boyfriend and I decided to make a roast chicken which Ben was very interested in (of course). The next day we were going to begin our lunch with the leftovers and because of his well mannered curiosity, we decided to let him sit at the table. I think he really wants to be one of us – I grabbed the camera and snapped away!
Dawn (Washington, DC)

Molly, all snuggled in for a long autumn’s nap…pillows ARE for heads, aren’t they? The headboard was upholstered by my husband and me – I found it was surprisingly difficult to get all the nailheads to line up in a straight line, even with the straight lines of a plaid to follow!
– Jess (New Hampshire)

4 year old tabby, Napoleon, is always releasing excess hair onto my down comforter. He’s a snuggler.
Kat (Milwaukee, Wisconson)

This is my adopted cat- Darth Kittie (my 8 yr old named her) She found us about 2 years ago.. and lived in my yard sleeping in a chair on my porch…..but she decided to come in out of the elements 3 months ago. We took her to the Vet, got her shots and spayed (sadly, she has had many many litters of kitties before she came to us) and she went from a skinny scared bit of a cat to a large and in charge kind of gal! She loves this desk  so much so that we built her a bed underneath it.
– Lori Jo

This is our “potcake” rescue from the Turks and Caicos, enjoying the morning sun in his favorite spot.
– Cynthia

This is Fletcher our cattle dog mix rescue on my husbands new Poang chair from Ikea. He usually won’t get on our furniture but for some reason he loves this chair.
– Samantha (California)

A few weeks ago I blogged about a plea for volunteer help for the St. Francis Hospice for Cats in the UK. As much as I would have loved to volunteer, Canada is a tad far so I opted to purchase an item from the organization’s Amazon Wish List. I had to show you this adorable photo they took of one of the residents, Solomon, enjoying the cat scratcher/bed tree thing I selected. It was worth every penny. And on that note, if each of you had a few dollars to spare, how about donating to a local animal rescue organization. They sure could use the help.

I’m breaking my rules by including this photo since not much furniture is visible but I can’t help it. Because the cold weather has set in my herd ‘o 7 has taken to snuggling up in bed with us all the time (several prefer under the covers). Ok, not all 7 end up in bed at the same time but 5 at once isn’t uncommon. And this is why we need to get a king sized bed. Here is what I like to call a cat sandwich (consisting of Phoebe, Felix and Edgar).
