Monday’s pets on furniture – part 2

Posted on Mon, 13 Dec 2010 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com and PLEASE don’t send me closeups of your pet!)

This is my cat, Eddy-Nelson, striking the pose on our Ektorp Sofa! We rescued him from the SPCA about a month ago. Needless to say he seems much more comfortable on our sofa than in the horrificaly small cage he used to be in!
– Audrey (Montreal)

this is Alice. she lies everywhere in the house and follows me wherever i go. she is on our eames rocker for a christmas photo.”
Janelle

This is Geemo, the most dapper one-eyed dog in all of San Francisco. He’s got great taste, and knows it. You can see more photos just like this on Jesse Freidin’s website, (voted Best Dog Photographer in the Bay Area, creator of the Doggie Gaga Project).

toto and sasha on my new couch. toto is half sasha’s age, but twice sasha’s size !

This is photo is a three part tribute. First to ‘pets on furniture’ in general, second to my other favorite blog (the brick house) and third to my cat. As you can see I made a version of the now famous plumbing pipe shelving. I made this dude so that I could have more window space for my plants in my tiny and dark NYC apartment but as you can see Kingsley has taken up residence on the bottom shelf.
– Megan

Who doesn’t like a nice chair and a half? Especially when it’s in front of a big window!? Gordie and Eddie (BFFs) share the chair during play dates. It’s a good place to sleep, play fight, and watch for the mailperson coming up the street to give her holy hell for daring to deliver the mail. The shiny silver leather ottoman is usually snugged against the chair, but lots of jumping on and off (by dogs) makes it want to move to another location. That mole pillow has also been chewed and mended more times than the dogs care to be reminded of. Sometimes, even humans sit in the chair. Really.
– Priscilla

“Bopsy sitting on one of my original 1950s Eames lounge chairs. She doesn’t look very comfortable, it has to be said, but then the chairs weren’t designed for cats.

My cats Zoe (on the bed) and Mia (in background) got in the shot as I was shooting for my portfolio. 🙂

Lottie just discovered our orange chair last week and has been sitting there every afternoon since.  She does have 3 dog beds around the house but always picks that chair or the couch to lounge on instead. I love when she moves my throw pillows on the couch around to suit her napping needs.
Beth (Indiana)

This is Robinson sitting on his favorite yellow chair.

i know that inside a cupboard may not qualify as furniture but i thought people might get a good laugh out of this on a monday. my brother always comes over to my house and puts my dog inside the microwave, or in a cupboard or inside a random box or something. its just his weird sense of humor but anyways i thought this was pretty funny. poor jude, clinging to a serving bowl for dear life!
– James

Exxon lives a rough life.  When I moved to KC and started working with my friend here at Framework Design, I start taking pictures of him in the various places he slept cause he amused me.
Exxon taking a nap on the Barcelona Chair (He has refined tastes).
A comfortable couch and some warm sunlight.  Sounds like a good place to take a nap.  Exxon sure seems to think so.
We share our office space with a furniture rep.  As soon as she moved in, both Exxon and (Bio)Diesel took to this chair.  We work at our desks, they nap the day away on this chair

This is Sparky, our golden retriever fighter born on 4 July.  He’s loves lying on our bed and often falls fast asleep like a baby while waiting for us to hop in.
– Joanne (Singapore)

Attached please find Mabel, my silly, tri-colored fur child perched on the Bertoia Diamond Chair in the sitting room.  She looks spiffy amid the collected lovelies on the nearby spool shelf.
– Barb (Saint Louis, Missouri)

My cat Breeze, on the newly made over chair. I woke him up for an impromptu photoshoot.

This is my sweet fancy rat Nim, playing in a pile of tribbles on our Eames rocker. Sadly she passed away yesterday, just days after this photo was taken. We miss her so much!
Allison (Ottawa, Ontario)

I was trying to take a picture of my newest piece of furniture to post on flickr, but my little cat wanted to smell it and explore it at the same time!!! It´s in every photo I took that morning.
Sofia (Lisbon, Portugal)

“This is Biber who belongs to Jeanette in Potts Point. Biber was very happy to pose on this antique French table for a Come Over Sunday shoot.”
Rachel

This is Ptolemy, who I found as a stray kitten here on the streets of Brooklyn. He likes sitting on this chair so he can watch me sitting on the couch.
– Stephanie (New York City)

I send you a picture of my new black leather sofa, with my little yorkshire Calinka who has found the large armrests are very comfortable and likes to jump on as soon as possible. So she can look on the front door.
– Catherine (Bordeaux, France)

My Bunny’s name is Hyacinth and my Chihuahua name is Mikimoto.
– Charity

This is my kitten Pickles, lounging by the corner windows on my screened in back porch. She’s a crazy one, but so deceivingly cute. The second is Pickles perched on the shelves my boyfriend and I built (inspired from a previous post) and installed on our bedroom wall.
-Julia (College Park, MD)

I walked in the kitchen and found my sneaky 3-year-old shih’tzu, Lulu, on the kitchen counter!
Our 8-month-old (and 95 pound) bulldog, Newman, likes to play in the den, jumping from chair to couch in virtually the same stride.

– Elizabeth (Brentwood, TN)

I got Glitter from the shelter in September, and she appears to have already learned to love good design…
– Liz

Meet Oliver, my 3 year old beagle. This chair was a do-it-yourself project I tackled and Oliver decided he wanted in the ‘After’ photos. The chair has found a home in my bedroom and Oliver still likes to think it’s for him.
– Aubrey (Dallas)

And thanks to Leigha for reminding me about an Etsy shop which is perfect for anyone who digs my pets on furniture posts. It’s called WildLifePrints and is the creation of a photographer named Jeff based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He has so many adorable and quirky photos of animals on furniture, like the one below. (And he is having a 2 for 1 sale now until the 15th!)

Minette, enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon in Montréal.”

This is our 3-year old french bulldog Stella. She loves soft things to sit on, sofas, beds and humans.”
– Maria (Finland)

We were gifted this table and chair set by family in Florida, which we quickly stripped and re-stained for a more modern look. We proudly present our 2 year old Pomeranian Yogi. He loves to sneak onto the table, hopefully with this plate setting, he’ll never do it again.
– Nathalie and Deena (Orlando, FL)

While photographing the lovely home of Harriet Zaretsky, her adorable puppy Rosie was happy to show off this Jonathan Adler blanket.”
Bethany (Los Angeles, CA)

Gordie (the little white Toy Fox Terrier) and Jack (the great white shark, I mean Boxer) love the new skylights and built in book cases in our what-not room. (Ahem, so does my husband who has appropriated the room for his guitar practice). Shortly after I took this picture, Jack took it upon himself to eat the new flokati rug. A 50lb, 5 month old Boxer does like a nice new rug. Grrrr.
– Priscilla

I have so many pics of my pets. But my little rescue dog BUBBA a chihuahua and Jack Russel mix always cracks me up.
My son often builds a tower of pillows in the kitchen seat and Bubba loves to sleep up there.
Bubba also loves to sleep on the back of ANY couch. This one is in the library.

My chihuahua Ren (named after Ren Hoek of Ren & Stimpy) loves nestling on top of the back cushions of my mini sectional sofa in our cozy new apartment.

I was attempting to take a photo of the quilt I finished, but Gus was offended that the camera wasn’t pointed at him.  He remedied that situation.
– Lexi (Savannah, GA)

Here are two pictures of my cats Mimi and Valentim. The first one they are on our colorful sofa and the second one show the cats enjoying the flowers and the table made by a friend!

This is Logan showing his approval of our new leather chair.”
– Sam (Philadelphia)

Here is my adorable rat terrier, Poochi, living it up on my love seat.”
– Juliana Payne

Here’s Valentino. It’s quite a close-up of him (we don’t say “it” for our pets in Portuguese) but it’s actually a close-up of my own hand-made carpet.
– Juliana Pan (Brazil)

This photo is of my beloved dog Jakko on the bed.

– Lorea

i’m pretty sure bert loves my bed more than he loves me.
– Ann (Boston, MA)

This is our 19 year old cat Ollie making himself at home amongst our cushions. The clicking camera woke him up and he wasn’t very happy!
– Sara (Manchester, England)

I just bought a small apartment in the centre of Amsterdam and a small kitten to accompany it. Here you see 4 month old Billie relaxing on the arm rest of one of the two Exquis chairs (a brand apparently unknown on the internet) I bought from marketplace (the Dutch craiglist).
Alex

This is Chairman Meow next to a Kartell unit and on a window seat. This picture was taken for a post on Come Over Sunday and is owned and much loved by James and Leila who live in Marrickville Sydney.

These are my 3 cats: Aldo, who is an 18-year old stray Siamese that jumped into my arms on a rainy day on the street; Chaplin, the tuxedo and Artos, the orange cat; both of them rescues, also. Aldo has recently discovered the cubbyhole that I cut into the sideboard. The sideboard/chest used to be a mid-century music cabinet, which I found on the curb. I gutted the interior and where the speakers used to be, cut out a hole and lined it with fleece. It makes for a little cat-cave and my cats take turns to claim it. I recently painted the walls with stripes and adding the key-collection to make the entry-hall look like a curio-cabinet.”
– Astrid (New York)

This a photo from one of our commercial photo but our little Lagotto puppy Ramon who always want to be in center of attention choose to take a little nap during set. The photographer found him sleeping after a break and as you understand this in now our favorite.
Edin & Lina

just had to share a pic of our labradoodle with you… her name is Amici ( a- mee- chee )… she has a coat as long as your pooch but I’ve just cut her with a pair of humans hair clippers :-)… it sort of worked !… we have another Labradoodle too… a big cream colour one  called Marcello… but he’s the good dog… he doesn’t sit on the furniture !
– Steph (Queensland)

I love my vintage chair and my cat who is always hungry. I’m sure he was also when I was taking this picture..
– Marta (Cracow, Poland)

This is Bailey, at night she often disappears into other rooms in our house.  I can usually find her on the couch in the living room or snuggling up in the guest room.  She also likes to rearrange blankets and pillows to suit her comfort.
– Meghan (Philadelphia, PA)

Here are two pictures of my chihuahuas Lilly (tan) and Miloh (black and white). They are perched in their favorite spot in the formal living room at my parent’s house.
– Hannah (Connecticut)

This is a picture of our 1 and a half year old cat Duffy sitting on a marble top side table.  He really thinks he owns the place.  And I’m starting to think it’s true...”
