I’m stalking two houses in Paddington, Sydney today. Both Victorian era terrace houses just a few blocks apart but at opposite ends of the style spectrum. Here’s number one. A corner terrace with an elegant, contemporary feel but still with loads of period features. Love the kitchen with its easy access to the garden. Wait until you stalk the second terrace with me then let me know which one is your favourite. I bet you’ll be able to pick mine. Link here while it lasts.

Stalking leftovers

It’s that time of the week. The ones that almost made the cut but then didn’t because I hummed and hawed and changed my mind. My stalking leftovers. Why? I’m very fussy. Call me particular, finicky, choosy and hard to please. Not quite right, bad photos, I need more photos please, house is amazing furniture is deplorable or no furniture at all! Can’t quite put my finger on it listings with something that has me nodding “yes”. This week’s finds include a house I chose because of a maidenhair fern, a red polar bear in the backyard, the country home and gardens of an interior designer whose life was shockingly cut short, a kitchen that no one must use and a warehouse space with amazing ceiling screaming for a makeover, steampunk perhaps? Harts Lane revisited

Posted on Thu, 24 Apr 2014 by midcenturyjo

Some things just get better with time. I’m talking worn in not worn out. Aging well, developing layers and meaning. We’ve visited Harts Lane, a holiday rental in Daylesford, Victoria before, here and here. Loved the studio and the old house but I’m loving them even more as they have developed their personalities. A change of wall colour, layered with textiles and texture, softened and styled for the new photos. Definitely somewhere I’d love to curl up in on a cold winter’s weekend away.

Still stalking

It’s Easter Monday. I’m stuffed full of chocolate Easter eggs and hot cross buns. What’s a girl to do on a long weekend? Snooze? You lose. I stalk. South Melbourne, a little terrace house with modern extension. I’m always amazed at how much house they can cram in behind those single storey facades. Link here while it lasts. Back to normal programming tomorrow I promise. In the meantime I need another Easter egg and maybe a cup of tea to wash it down.

This week’s finds include a high priced “shack”, killer views, inner city extensions, a significant Walter Burley Griffin house with a contemporary addition and an old house they don’t dare show the inside of but OMG the backyard is over the top… gladiator style pool party anyone?
