Fantastic Frank that is. I’ve lost my heart to this apartment. It will be unrequited love though. It’s sold.

Stalking two kitchens

Posted on Sat, 3 Aug 2013 by midcenturyjo

Both in inner city Sydney. Both in older houses. Both in listings that leave me wanting more. Oh I don’t know. More photos or more styling or more personality or more curating and tidying. More or less. Fussy old woman I am! But both these kitchens with their dining tables and little sitting areas off to the side make me smile. I’d be happy with either. See more of the houses here and here while the links last.

Stalking the beauty of decay

Stalking an unassuming facade in Collingwood, Melbourne. Perhaps a shop with accommodation over? Is it one of those über slick modern renovations that leaves the front in an unrestored state then wows you with high end finishes and slick design within? No. It is something more poignant, to me more inspiring. The march of time, the aging of a building, the death of a space. The beauty of decay. A moment in time to marvel at the untouched shell until someone buys it and wows you with high end finishes and slick design within. Link here while it lasts.

Stalking shotgun, slats and synergy

Take a classic shotgun terrace in my favourite Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy. Extend and renovate with voids and stairs and slats and changing levels. Design and evolve and create something beautiful. Architect design, innovation and builder’s own craftsmanship converge in a sensational synergy of style, form and function… that last bit was the real estate agent blurb but I think he is spot on. An amazing home designed by Atelier Wagner Architects. Link here while it lasts.

Still stalking

As one does on a Saturday. Stalking a long thin block of land where Andrew Burges Architecture created a 2 storey contemporary house with connection to the sky and the garden. Privacy and plywood. A great combination. It’s all about with scale, with tightness and opening up, changing levels and opportunistic views. Link here while it lasts. (Thanks Anne for sniffing this one out for me!)

P.S. I have included a couple more images from the architect’s site… just because I can.
