Stalking inside and out

Posted on Tue, 21 May 2013 by midcenturyjo

I’m stalking another clever extension to an older house this time in Randwick, Sydney. With not much backyard left after extending the living spaces the new design opens to the cleverly laid out garden area. The hero piece of this small garden is the pool with its cool glass wall. Equally the stacking glass walls are a stand out allowing a seamless flow from lounging inside to alfresco dining and there is even a small patch of grass (for dog or child or mower freak). Talk about packing it all in! Link here while it lasts.

Stalking shadows

What’s that? Am I stalking the supernatural? A fleeting shadow? A ghostly apparition? A stencil on the wall? A cute and clever touch to a very narrow side passageway where not much will grow but a bare block wall is just a little too stark. Stalking small on a grand scale

I can’t help it. I’m still stalking. Still stalking Potts Point in Sydney. Still stalking small apartments. Still stalking the urban cool or in this case the urban sophisticated. A wonderfully dark, masculine space by interior designer Darren Palmer. Luxe finishes. Luxe living. Definitely high end in a wonderful art deco building in the heart of the action. Even the urban cool have sofas

Posted on Wed, 15 May 2013 by midcenturyjo

A few days ago I posted an edgy inner city pad by Nicholas Gurney. Comment was made about the lack of a sofa and a TV. Back came the retort that a funky inner city type would be so busy leading a funky inner city life that he wouldn’t need a sofa or a TV. Now the apartment is for sale (here) with just a few more photos that we haven’t seen already and gee whiz what  do I spy? Sofa, TV and a table and chairs. So was it a case of furniture out for the judging of the Australian Interior Design Awards 2013 or furniture in for the real estate listing photos? Do the urban cool have sofas? 😉

Stalking on the floor

I like my brick old and tumbled and recycled and on the floor. I would sell my first born, if I had one, for a warehouse space like this where the brick was underfoot, heavy old beams above and walls of glass to let in the light. I would definitely have to tweak the furniture, make the persian rugs larger 9 (and maybe moroccan?), action some large art and change the doona cover(!) but the space itself? Yummy. Stalking beautiful old brick floors in Annandale, Sydney. Link here while it lasts.
