This Old Hudson Maison

Posted on Mon, 21 Mar 2022 by KiM

Timeless design combines comfort, convenience and elegance in historic Hudson. Our This Old Hudson Maison is a fully furnished vacation rental available for short term and seasonal stays. Book this unique French inspired space via Airbnb. Designed by the bespoke creative firm Zio and Sons. This home could not be more beautiful. I love seeing designers embrace the history of a home. For example, discovering that antique wallpaper in the living room and leaving it as a focal point, whilst filling in bits with venetian plaster. Gorgeous!!!

It can sometimes be a bit jarring to see such a modern extension on a centuries old home but given I often say I’ll need at least 4 homes to get in all the styles I really like, in this case you get the best of both worlds in ONE home! Here the 18th century Georgian farmhouse in Gloucestershire has been transformed into a double height art gallery and an office. The addition comprises the living spaces. An exquisite juxtaposition of old and new. By Alison Brooks Architect. Photos: Paul Riddle.

Dave is a longtime reader of our blog and recently wrote us to share his absolutely incredible Montréal loft with us, that he had torn down to the studs and completely renovated in 2018. Unfortunately he now has to sell it but wanted to share it with us before he leaves. A bit of info about it: 15ft ceilings, exposed brisk, 2 gas fireplaces, 2+1 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, living space of 1760 sq ft and a mezzanine of 900 sq ft, private roof top terrace 21′ x 34′. Dane not included 😉
WOW!!!! I am totally smitten. This loft has EVERYTHING. Thank you Dave for sharing your home with us!
A few before photos to show you the extent of the work that was done…

In the event you are in the market for the loft of your dreams, here is the listing.

A renovated farm in Buckinghamshire

Posted on Mon, 24 Jan 2022 by KiM

I could totally get behind barn living if it looked like this. Hubert Zandberg tackled the design of this contemporary barn renovation in Buckinghamshire and the bucolic setting and details of the architecture really add character and make this home so welcoming and relaxed.

Wardington Manor

I think I’ll add stately manors to my castle ensemble for Sundays as they tend to be just as fabulous and a bit easier to find. I spotted Wardington Manor featured on Sköna hem and then found another feature of this glorious home on House & Garden. Located in Oxfordshire on 30 acres of picturesque property, this 15th century manor is an absolute dream. The woodwork, the plasterwork, and that stone flooring in the kitchen….*sigh* (photos: Michael Paul / Living Inside & Andrew Montgomery)
