A church turned castle

Posted on Tue, 23 Feb 2010 by KiM

Yes, that’s right. How creative must someone be to convert a church into a castle? Tammy emailed us about this INSANE home in Austin, Texas that was the creation of her friends Priscilla Glover and Ivan Spaller of Urban Nature Inc. It was formerly a mission style church built in 1925, and Urban Nature Inc. decided to modernize it with a bit of rock and roll while keeping some old world touches. Talk about a party house! Tammy is their realtor and has since sold the church, but stay tuned tomorrow for another project of theirs just down the road (that is for sale last I heard).

Jordi Canosa

Jordi Canosa is a photographer from Barcelona who has captured some of the most extraordinary spaces. From rustic villas to modern lofts, his photos are magical and take my breath away. So much so in fact, that this post is based on his more organic spaces, and tomorrow I’ll feature some of the modern spaces he’s photographed. Take a deep breath….and dig in….

Barbara Frua De Angeli

It’s settled – I’m going to sell my home in lovely Ottawa and buy a little rustic Italian villa. OK, maybe not, but in the meantime I am happy to settle for the portfolio of Italian design diva Barbara Frua De Angeli. So simple yet so effective.

Rustic kitchens

Although if I ever end up redoing my kitchen it would have a modern streamlined vibe, I still have a love and fascination for kitchens that are quite the opposite. I’ll call it “rustic”. You know, muted colours, pots and utensils hanging on the walls, lots of open storage to display beautiful dishes, and large furniture in place of cabinets. It’s such a welcoming look, imagine a big centre island with family and friends gathered around, helping with the cooking while sharing great conversation.
