It’s been a little while since Jo featured some interior eye candy from the portfolio of photographer Max Kim-Bee, so I thought I’d re-introduce you all to some of his beautiful photos. I adore the space above – a wonderful eclectic and ethnic vibe.

Timeless, classic and traditional, layers of history and collections, life’s experiences held tight. At other times a spare asethetic, the sense of less is natural. It’s a look that harks back to an age before the mass produced, a time of the artisan and the simple. A look that is even more relevant in these times of mass consumption. History and the time worn, vintage and the long discarded but newly rediscovered. It’s a bower bird approach to beauty. Australian stylist and interior designer Justin Bishop.

I’m having a design crisis. I’m finding myself drawn to brown. Not just brown but neutrals, no… naturals, maybe wood… and stone… maybe brick. Grass and feathers and gnarly old branches next to turned bowls of eggs and seed pods. It’s clutter and collections and brown…. brown… natural… oh and copper and brass and antiques and hemp and sisal and hand made furniture and back to brown. It’s driving me crazy but I can’t help it. I found this home in the countryside just outside Berrima in New South Wales on my regular real estate stalking and I should be running screaming shouting “no”, “no”, “no” but… I’m kind of hooked. Although relaxed modernism is the signature of SL:ID STUDIO, Samantha is fluent in several styles and periods. Surfaces and finishes are both tactile and beautiful. The warmth of a timeless antique may soften a spare, modern space. Layered lighting anticipates the arrival of a treasured painting and comfortable furnishings. Finally, an element of humor and the unexpected lends levity to a tastefully arranged space. I love the classy but liveable spaces and the warm, neutral colour palette that seems to have so much depth.

Classically elegant, traditional yet with a fresh modern focus. Energetic colours and patterns. No fuddy duddy fuss just a youthful take on a timeless look. It’s been a while since I focused in on a more traditional look and Gideon Mendelson with his sophisticated sensibility is taking my fancy today.
