Another classic beauty by Kate Marker

Posted on Tue, 30 May 2017 by KiM

Several months back I featured some spaces (here and here) by Illinois-based interior designer Kate Marker and because I love her style I am sharing yet another timeless and classic home she designed with subtle modern touches. Lots of bright white with colour and texture added mostly through pillows and rugs. Makes for an easy swap-out when you are looking for a change.

Because …

… I cannot get enough of Michelle Gerson‘s portfolio. Aircraft fuselage as artwork? Why not! So white, so bright punctuated with statement pieces and refreshing pops of blue and green.

A simple beauty

It’s a little bit Scandi and a little bit Shaker. A little bit Arts and Crafts, a little bit country and definitely contemporary. You’d think that it might be a little bit confused but this renovation in Flinders, Victoria by Melbourne-based interior designers Austin Design Associates is stylish, welcoming and quite simply beautiful. (The kitchen is a dream!)

Tropical paradise

Thursday – the sad forgotten sister of Friday. No one ever yells “Thank God it’s Thursday”. No one ever counts down the last few hours until after work drinks or the freedom of the weekend. Thursday is a plod-along day, a “let’s get it over so we can go to sleep and yell TGIF the next morning” sort of day. So here is my Thursday gift to you, a virtual escape to brighten up the stolid workaday. Tamarind Beach at Paradise Cove, a compound of three houses (for vacation rental) in the tropical paradise of Vanuatu. A sophisticated taste of island life steps from crystal blue waters and coral reefs. This is one virtual getaway I wish I could make in real life.

A charming family apartment

A renovated Art Deco apartment in Darling Point, Sydney, home to Kate Nixon of Busatti Australia and her family, is full of charm and character as well as the beautiful Italian fabrics that Nixon imports. A neutral palette allows for accents of pattern and colour to take the limelight while delightful vignettes provide the eye candy.
