Winter in the subtropics

Posted on Thu, 9 Jun 2016 by midcenturyjo

I really can’t complain. Winter comes and goes here with only some minor bickering on my part. Days rarely drop to zero degrees and climb into the 20s with monotonous regularity. And I can’t think of a better place to spend my winter days than at a beachside getaway just a couple of hours north of where I live. Welcome to 180 Degrees Noosa. I’m packing a summer wardrobe… and maybe just a jumper or two.

A monochromatic melody

Posted on Thu, 9 Jun 2016 by midcenturyjo

Oak beams and half timbered walls, flagstones and horse brasses. It all adds up to a quintessential English cottage but this house by i gigi is layered with contemporary, French and Asian influences. A monochromatic melody of old and new, local and global, natural and neutral.

Welcome to the wonderful home of Mr.Fräg, a wonderful scandi oasis of wood and white and fabulous furniture. Except it’s not in any Scandinavian country. No it’s in an apartment in Sydney, Australia and Mr.Fräg is Frag Woodall, an industrial designer whose recently debuted at Milan Design week.

Still Monday and I need more coffee

Posted on Mon, 23 May 2016 by midcenturyjo

If you’d rather start (or in my case continue) your Monday with a hit of caffeine in a dark, albeit stylish cave then perhaps Abbots & Kinney by Adelaide-based architects studio-gram will help you ease into the week. If I was drinking a cappuccino in the last cafe then it’s definitely short blacks here. The added bonus is that if good coffee and great surrounds aren’t enough to cure your Mondayitis I hear the pastry is to die for.

A Victorian home with a dreamy kitchen

Posted on Sun, 15 May 2016 by KiM

I am totally in love with this kitchen I found in a British location home via Shoot Factory. Built in 1864 this Victorian regency house has beautiful architectural details of that period but this modern and minimalist wood kitchen is breathtaking. The juxtaposition of old and new here blends really well together. This glorious kitchen is by Blakes London

What’s up with those stools tho’?!?!?!
