I’ve subscribed to a few Canadian shelter magazines for several years and my favourite has always been Canadian House & Home. If you can get your hands on one, do check it out. Their website is fantastic as well and has a great gallery of photos from past issues where I found these…
Sandy Koepke is intrigued by the relationship between interior and exterior spaces. Her designs blur the boundaries and result in beautiful outdoor rooms. She says it’s a light-filled and light-hearted approach to interior and garden design. Her portfolio is an eclectic mix of styles and materials but fascinating details are everywhere. Not for the minimalist or the pure modernist but definitely for those who love vintage, found objects, rambling gardens and fun.
Just north of Brisbane is a favourite weekend haunt, the gorgeous Sunshine Coast. Here the whitest sand meets blue sea and the light is just as white as the sand. So when I found this house (at Sunshine Beach) while real estate stalking I knew it was a perfect interpretation of the coastal resort in which it is found. With glimpses of the sea and a canopy of lush palms and bushland shading it from the bright white light it’s cool and inviting.
Sometimes it’s not just a room that is inspiring. Don’t get me wrong the rooms that photographer Alison Gootee has captured through her lens are full of beautiful ideas to steal. It’s her editorial work that has me smiling. The colours, the clash and match of pattern, the arrangements both floral and objects come alive through her talent. Love the composition of the shots, love the lighting. You can almost smell the flowers and feel the silk in those billowing drapes.
