I have always loved big porches. When big enough they’re like a whole other room. To curl up with a book and a glass of wine, wrapped up in a blanket, enjoying the fresh air…..
photography: Joe Schmelzer
It’s been a while since we’ve featured photographer Joe Schmelzer‘s work (the last time was this book review) so when he emailed the other day about this artist, I thought it was time for another post. So here you go. Stellar phtoography, superb interiors.
One of my favourite features in the latest issue of Inside Out was this Boerum Hill home. Old and new, found and repurposed, gentle and unpretentious. Interiors were a collaboration between the owner and Nightwood. I found these lovely photos on their website and had to share.
Slick, high end furnishings sit perfectly within an imperfect shell, heightening the luxe through contrast with the rough. But the old room holds firm with its faded grandeur. Is the beauty in the new or in the old or the way they interact? By Brazilian design studio Gisele Taranto Arquitetura.
I’ve got an encore of Italian architecture and interior design firm UdA (previous project featured yesterday). It’s a penthouse in UdA’s typical modern aesthetic, with a bit of wood accents to add some warmth. Funky lighting and furnishings, a streamlined kitchen, and WOW how I love the bedroom photo! Add in a live plant wall on the massive outdoor patio and I could DEFINITIVELY live here!
