Muriel Cibot

A simple French apartment that may be small in size but big in style. Ideas to steal? The whitewashed old door track mounted to save space, the red cords on the island lights and a bookcase that makes a statement in an otherwise calm space. By interior designer Muriel Cibot. Très bon.

A fun loft in Moscow

I freaking LOVE this loft apartment in Moscow I found on The Village. From what I can make out thanks to Google translate, the owners (who might be architects) needed a live/work space and the loft underwent a massive renovation to make it liveable. There are so many fun features – the hilarious bear rug, a hammock, a tree growing out of the wall, the moody blue bedroom nook, the plant boxes and bicycle art in the kitchen…it’s simply a really quirky and playful place to hang out. My one issue is the few inches of rock on the outer edges of the walls – that’s sort of odd and wouldn’t be very fun to keep clean. And you best get along with your partner. 🙂

Amanda Hamilton

I was reading the ‘About – Why we rock’ section of Calgary interior designer Amanda Hamilton‘s website to figure out what to include in this intro when these phrases caught my attention and had me cracking up: Breaking the rules is kind of our thing, so we’ve gone against traditional business rules that advise against mixing business with pleasure. We spend a great deal of time with our clients and we need to like working with each other. Scratch that – we need to love working with each other. It’s not a real friendship until we know your dog’s favourite spot to scratch and you know that we go crazy for Soy Chai Lattes. Amanda, you’re hired! Actually I would have been sold upon seeing that makeup organization drawer….*sigh*.

A second helping of Heather A Wilson

There are things that sing to me. Things that sing a siren’s song. Beautiful houses call to me all the time. That’s why I blog. The notes ring in my ears and I’m bewitched. They don’t have to be big and pretentious houses. More often than not they are simple homes. Simple and beautiful. And recently the siren’s melody is about old scrubbed timbers and lime washed floors, board on the walls and high ceilings, family kitchens and porches for sitting, house plants and comfy old furniture. There is only one conclusion with this house. Architect Heather A Wilson must be a siren.

Miethe+Quehl

Envy is a deadly sin. I know because I sin all the time. Better add greed and gluttony. I could sit here and overindulge in this wonderful apartment brought to life by Potsdam based architectural studio Miethe+Quehl. With great features to build on the architects have been refined in their touch. The historical sits comfortably with the slick and contemporary. The floors warm my greedy little heart, the light makes my eyes sting with tears. The sheer beauty of its deco bones makes me choke and splutter on my avarice. I am a bad girl. I deserve to be punished… and you can punish me… after I lick the computer screen a bit more.
