Kim and I flit all over the web looking for inspiration. Sometimes we land on a site that the other has already visited. What a bummer! Already posted. Ssssshhhh don’t tell anyone but sometimes, very rarely, we post something the other has already featured. Oooops! I loved Isabelle Juy’s portfolio when I found L’Atelier d’Archi except Kim had beat me to it (here). Then I saw the staircase. Love at first sight and not in the original post. Hello lover! You’re going up on the blog. Inspiration for the stairs in my now not quite so new old house. Mine is nowhere near as grand as this but oh how I lust after the Deborah Bowness wallpaper. The drama, the whimsy, the fun.
Dear owners of this pool pavilion guest house by Arquitectura in Canberra, Australia’s capital, please do not invite me to stay in your beautiful modern retreat in your lovely shady backyard. I do believe I’d never move out!
This home, located in Tel Aviv, Israel and designed by Axelrod Architects is all about concrete. It’s EVERYWHERE. A little too cold perhaps? I think so, but with some walls clad in wood and some wood flooring (I’d even welcome a bit of carpet) this is one sweet home. It may be cold and minimal but it’s got ALOT of windows to keep things bright and warm. I love the long narrow window above the kitchen countertop, and the different levels of the home keep things interesting (love the floor #’s on the walls in case you weren’t sure where you were).
If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.comand PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!
Polly runs this house.

That is Ozzie chillin’ on the bed. He is always up for stealing the scene.

Here is a photo of my dog Uni, 6 years old miniature poodle, and Noli, 2 years old American Short Hair on our IKEA sofa napping together on a lazy Sunday afternoon while my son, 9 months old Miles is trying to wake them. Noli is my mother in law’s cat who was rescued from a kill shelter. She vacations with us while my mother in law is traveling. We put out toys and cat beds for her to make her feel like home, but she seems to be fond of the Geometric D cushion by Vitra only! She had eyes on it the first moment she came in and calls it her own during her 10 days stay.

This is our 4 month old French bulldog Teal sitting on her favorite chair..she likes to look out the window and growl at the squirrels for stealing her acorns.
– Gina (Martha’s Vineyard, MA)
This is my icelandic sheepdog Skima. I sent you a picture of her on my mums beautiful red and white striped Ekerö sofa a few months back. I have since then moved into my first own flat and here Skima is in her new favourite place – on a golden sofa I got from my godmothers childhood home. This baby survived 50 years, is surprisingly comfortable and has the original fabric. I love it to death! (and to the right you can see one of the matching chairs I got with it).

this photo is of my two cats, Mei (black and white) and Misso (red cat) on the cream couch. They love to scratch their nails on it ):

If you’d like to check out a couple of photos of one member of my herd that I took Saturday, check out this post on my page. And a big thanks to Helen for sending me this link. Prepare to laugh out loud.
A riot of colour and pattern. In your face fun by Designers in the City. If you like your black and white spiced up with just about every other colour and OTT is never enough this might just be for you!
