An Ikea employee’s apartment in Sweden

Posted on Wed, 23 Oct 2013 by KiM

There once was a girl from Quebec by the name Geneviève Labbé who studied interior design. After she graduated she ended up moving to Denmark, met and married a lovely Danish boy, and then moved to Sweden where she landed a job working for Ikea on their catalogs and brochures. (DREAM JOB) This is her apartment in Malmö. And no, it’s not completely furnished by Ikea. She prefers to mix styles and loves incorporating vintage items in her home. And then I moved in. 🙂 (via Le Soleil)

Black and white and green …

… and fun and graphic and bold. The showroom for KCL Agencies by Sydney based Designers in the City is big on impact. Pantone’s 2013 colour of the year is the star in this monochromatic scheme with the emerald green playing perfectly against the black and white backdrop. Bold pattern wows on arrival but the showroom is relatively calm after climbing the stairs, allowing the company’s product to shine. I think this time I really am allowed to say the colour pops.,. and punches and hits and zings.

The heart of a warehouse

In the inner city Sydney suburb of Lilyfield a garden grows. Behind an old brick facade in a building that once housed the “Oh Boy Candy Company” is a sweat treat, a green oasis. In the heart of a warehouse conversion by Virginia Kerridge is a space to breathe, to grow, to play, to see the sky, to connect. Solid and void, old brick and beam, sleek contemporary finishes, history and family home.

I want to eat that photo above. Utter perfection. Captured by talented Parisian photographer Germain Suignard. All the others are his as well. There is a whole lotta midcentury fabulousness up in here.

P.S. Fellow Ottawans, it’s that time of the year! The Ottawa Antique Show is happening this Friday to Sunday at Carleton U!! Always a good time, and always lots of cool things to see and purchase (I scored in April!). Check out their website or Facebook for details.

A dreamy bathroom

Posted on Tue, 22 Oct 2013 by KiM

Sweet jeezus this bathroom is an absolute DREAM! Via Minosa. The clients were searching for a fresh contemporary space that better utilised their small bathing space. The client wanted the bathroom to be connected to the dressing room which was located next to the ensuite and the bedroom there after. They wanted a good use of artificial light as the bathroom had NO window. The client did not like grout as was searching for a seamless product to apply to all walls and the shower floor. The designers choose to remove the wall between the dressing room and the ensuite and in its place installing the Rimidesio sliding (oversized) door system, and an engineered Oak floor. The two main focal points are the stunning Antonio Lupi freestanding bath and the floating wall hung Vanity unit with the very impressive Gessi Goccia tapware and oversized basins. The faucets and tub filler are so gorgeous!!!
