J+G Design

Posted on Tue, 15 Sep 2015 by KiM

NYC based J+G Design is made up of interior designers Jennifer and Georgie whose style is uptown sensibility with downtown flairWe like to describe our aesthetic as traditional design as we see it through our lens – equal parts tailored and eclectic, glamorous and relaxed, bold and subtle. It is this unique balance that we strive for in every project. This first space is making me really love blue – stunning!

Escape 2

I’m still running away from a horrid day. You’ll find me in Tecolutla, Veracruz, Mexico at Hotel Azúcar. I’ll save you a hammock.

Escape

Posted on Tue, 15 Sep 2015 by midcenturyjo

Some days start with such promise then come crashing down. Some days just suck. Some days I wish I could run away to a hideaway where  the rooms are simple yet beautiful, the tick of the clock is actually the sound of a giant irrigator in a far field and the view is a never ending paddock of rich brown soil. No disturbances, no responsibilities, no one else. Today I’d like to run away to Quamby Home, a newly renovated 1870s holiday house in rural Tasmania. If you decide to run away yourself one day you can take 9 of your family and friends with you. Today I’ll just escape by myself.

Rehabitat relook

Diane lives in Connecticut and loves keeping traditional design current. Her daughter Emily lives in New York City and loves modern design and fashion with a vintage twist. Together they are whipping up some bright, timeless and functional spaces as Rehabitat. (I featured their work earlier in the year here)

Love that quote 🙂

Monday’s pets on furniture

If you would like to participate in the Monday’s pets on furniture series please send photos, your name, location and a brief description to kim[@]desiretoinspire[.]net. Thanks!

This is Toulouse, our three year old center of our universe. He is adopted from the local cat shelter and came to us as a blessing exactly one week before our 20 year old cat Mickey died and exactly one year after our 17 year old cat Kosmos died, it is something about that particularly week in August for us. Here relaxing on the bed with all the pillows. After his rough start in life he is now living the good life as every cat should be doing. He always wants to be close and follows me from room to room.
– Karolina (Malmö, Sweden)

Enclosed please find a picture of my lovely cat Evita on a fake fur pouf by Impressionen. Sadly two weeks ago she died of cancer. But I really like the photo as she loved sitting on all kind of cushions. With two other cats I live in Cologne, Germany.

Introducing Mr. Sherman!  The debonair hunter is surveying his world!  Sherman is particularly fond of the Shine by SHO tourquoise Pearl sofa next to a John Richards hand blown glass and steel lamp.
– Rebecca (Austin)

The first picture is Faustus pleading with me to get rid of the Ikea sofa and buy him one from Room and Board that would show his magnificent hair better. I caved 🙂

I have some entries of my own, of course. 🙂 Felix lounging on the coffee table, Frankie admiring the new kilim rug, and Lucky sprawled on one of the repro tulip dining chairs while Frankie naps nearby.
