I could waffle on about how I love this or that in this Jackson Square loft by Catherine Kwong but she tells the story best.
“When approaching the remodel of this small loft apartment, editing was the key. First step: removing the eighties-style shag carpet and the mirrors that covered every surface. It was smooth sailing after that: white walls, dark floors, tailored drapery… Throw in an 800-pound steel firewood holder, a glass chandelier, and a favorite pair of leather sling chairs, and the place was ready for late-night cocktails and easy Sunday mornings.”
High up in the rafters in the centre of Madrid is a penthouse full of light and space, pattern and colour and most of all exhuberance. It’s about modern living within a historic shell, keeping the past but surrounding yourself with contemporary luxury. Fabulous Spanish interiors by design duo Melián Randolph.
I hate Facebook for the most part, but was reminded recently why I still have an account. Because without it I would not have noticed this incredible renovation project by Emily Arbour. Emily has a gorgeous home in Almonte, a small town outside of Ottawa, and her home was in desperate need of an update. What I saw on Facebook sure captured my attention, and when I went to check out the full story on her blog, I was blown away. The transformation of her kitchen, sunroom, foyer, family room and powder room is fantastic!!! Congrats Emily! I bet you and your family are loving every bit of it. (She has tons of details and sources in her blog post).
If you would like to participate in the Monday’s pets on furniture series please send photos, your name, location and a brief description to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net, or hashtag your photos on Instagram with #DTIpetsonfurniture. Thanks!
This is Sofie, my 15 weeks old kitten. She’s a British Longhair and moved in three weeks ago. She’s adjusted pretty well, but pooped in her playtunell while I was cleaning today. Guess the vacuum and moving of furniture was too much for her…

Some from me. Felix lounging on the sofa in the sun, and on pile of mail on the dining table, and Phoebe and Mimin captured at just the right moment.
There’s nothing more that I love than creativity and uniqueness in interiors. It gets really tiring seeing the same thing over and over again (Instagram and Pinterest, I’m talking about you, and bohemian style specifically). I spotted this Olso apartment on The Cut and nearly had a stroke. Hello pink, green marble and brass kitchen of my dreams!!! This home could not be more one-of-a-kind. LOVE THAT.
