The original house is heritage listed but the modern day home, while respecting its 19th century roots, reaches into the 21st.
“The extension is in fact highly contemporary with a palette of grey black and white delivered as long, horizontal planes. Stark black and white artworks, black steel framed windows and an abundance of white walls mimic the palette of the heritage portion without mimicking style. The continuation of a loose collection of contemporary and traditional furnishings further ties the two portions.”

“In the same way that a good suit remains in fashion, interiors can be timeless if they are well proportioned, employ good materials, and suit the people they are built for. Functionality, quality and beauty are my long-standing design principles.” – Sarah Davidson Interiors
Timeless, sophisticated, custom yet inviting. My favourite type of house.
I am crushing so hard on this home designed by María Lladó. It is eclecticism at its finest where every corner has something unexpected and each piece tells a story. That curved sofa in the first 2 photos is incredible and something similar to what I’ve been wanting for my living room.

Here’s my sister’s cat Louie, visiting my parents’ house for the first time. He marched straight into the master bedroom and owned it like a boss.

Sarah of @the.church.house lives in a converted 1880’s church in Merrickville (outside Ottawa). She put the following photo of her pooch Mu in her Instagram stories the other day and kindly sent it to me so I could share on the blog.
From me: Phoebe and Milo enjoying the late afternoon sun, Felix on his throne, and Lucky passed out on my leather pouf.
Jo and I have always expressed our love for church conversions, and this one is one of the most beautiful churches (built in 1881 and located in Kent, U.K.) we have ever featured. The furniture is a bit hand-me-down/garage-sale so ignore all that, and just imagine what you could do to the interior. The bedroom setup is incredible. That’s possibly the best headboard EVER 🙂 Currently for sale via The Modern House.
