Clark House

The original house is heritage listed but the modern day home, while respecting its 19th century roots, reaches into the 21st.

“The extension is in fact highly contemporary with a palette of grey black and white delivered as long, horizontal planes. Stark black and white artworks, black steel framed windows and an abundance of white walls mimic the palette of the heritage portion without mimicking style. The continuation of a loose collection of contemporary and traditional furnishings further ties the two portions.”

“In the same way that a good suit remains in fashion, interiors can be timeless if they are well proportioned, employ good materials, and suit the people they are built for. Functionality, quality and beauty are my long-standing design principles.”  – Sarah Davidson Interiors

Timeless, sophisticated, custom yet inviting. My favourite type of house.

Eclectic and colourful in Madrid

Posted on Mon, 18 Mar 2019 by KiM

I am crushing so hard on this home designed by María Lladó. It is eclecticism at its finest where every corner has something unexpected and each piece tells a story. That curved sofa in the first 2 photos is incredible and something similar to what I’ve been wanting for my living room.

Join us for the January Event. We have a whopping 25% off EVERYTHING online & in-store, (everything but the M’s) Use the code: JAN25! Some short but sweet tips from me for 2019… Whether your New Years resolution is working on yourself or your home, remember to let your personality shine through; be bold, be bright and be creative! Don’t be afraid of the darkness, embrace moody colour palletes or contrast them with reflecting mirrors and mettalics as well as colouful textiles and ornaments. RELAX!! Create a space for yourself and surround yourself with treasures and comforts you love. My relaxation hub is by the fireplace, it helps me to take a breather, be mindful and grateful about my journey. #myaastyle #abigailahern #myaacolour #newyears #resolutions

This is my favorite spot in the house and the space I love to work on the most. The latest change here is the seating area which is an old dining table top that my dad made a long time ago. Originally I set it on milk crates but then Tim came along and fine-tuned it with this wooden base. He always makes my quick DIYS look so much better. I refreshed this area using items I had lying around the house. My favorite thing to do. Milk crate version in my stories. . . #diywin #nola #bohemianstyle  #jungalowstyle #myhouzz #homewithrue #apartmenttherapy #realliving #mysouthernliving  #noladesign #inmydomaine #sodomino #poodlemix #interiorforall #fpme #lonnyliving #myanthropologie #plantsmakepeoplehappy #showemyourstyled #lifeledbycolor #verandamag #bhghome #yellowtraceinteriors #flashesofdelight #homelove #mypinterest #landgathome #designmilk #dscolor #urbanjungleblog

Buddy sits here at this window literally every day 😂 We live on a main road so we don’t get that many people passing without purpose, but random dog walkers, the Postman, DPD, UPS, Hermes and Parcelforce feel the full extent of his wrath daily 🐶 Did you know that Lhasa Apsos were bred to sit on the laps of Tibetan monks to defend them from intruders? And that they have REALLY loud barks which make them sound like much bigger dogs than they actually are. They are also extremely smart in some ways, but thick as shit in others. Oh, and TOTALLY untrainable and prone to eating knickers out of the dirty washing basket 🙄 Okay, I’m done. As you were 😑😂 #interiordetails #interiordesign #interiorforinspo #livingroom #interiorstyling #livingroominspo #lhasaapso #inmydomaine #apartmenttherapy #dogsofinstagram #lhasa #livingroomdecor #couch #interiorstyled #roomforinspo #inspiremyinstagram #interiordecorator #myhouseidea #interior4u #myhomestyle #makehomeyours #thisishome #lovemyhome #wallpaper #homestylist #clouds #pursuepretty #homedetails #sodomino #myhomevibe

For the 6th year in a row, we spent NYE at a cocktail competition dinner party thrown by great friends. Kyle and Lulu prepare an ambitious multi-course menu (small portions, eaten while mingling) and each guest is assigned a different course in advance for which they must create a cocktail pairing to serve with the dish. Guests use scorecards to rate each cocktail on pairing, taste, and presentation. The winner gets a small prize (in the past this has included being “iced” 😂) and a year of bragging rights. We all get VERY competitive about this party. I even made my own Thai basil simple syrup and Thai chili infused vodka this year. And folks…after 6 long years, Kean and I were the champions!!!!! I’m hoping to do a write up for the blog on how to host a party like this as well as my winning drink recipe (“NYE-Thai” pronounced like mai-tai 😜) and the recipe for our paired dish which was Thai larb (delicious!). Here’s hoping this is a good omen for the year to come! -A

Here’s my sister’s cat Louie, visiting my parents’ house for the first time. He marched straight into the master bedroom and owned it like a boss.

Sarah of @the.church.house lives in a converted 1880’s church in Merrickville (outside Ottawa). She put the following photo of her pooch Mu in her Instagram stories the other day and kindly sent it to me so I could share on the blog.

From me: Phoebe and Milo enjoying the late afternoon sun, Felix on his throne, and Lucky passed out on my leather pouf.

Jo and I have always expressed our love for church conversions, and this one is one of the most beautiful churches (built in 1881 and located in Kent, U.K.) we have ever featured. The furniture is a bit hand-me-down/garage-sale so ignore all that, and just imagine what you could do to the interior. The bedroom setup is incredible. That’s possibly the best headboard EVER 🙂 Currently for sale via The Modern House.
