What appears at first to be a sleek and refined if somewhat restrained West London Townhouse takes an about face and breaks out the colour and the fun. Art Deco riffs meet 80’s Memphis murmurings and by the time the terrazzo takes centre stage it’s all over. You’re in love. By London-based architectural and interior design firm  Waldo Works.

Part 2 of This Old Hudson

Here is a peek at This Old Hudson’s new second unit, part of the same property as the first unit featured in my earlier post. Zio & Sons did a fabulous job on this space as well. The same sort of rustic vibe with an equally gorgeous kitchen and an amazing 10 ft long farm-style dining table. And that bathroom!!

More kitchen dreams

Just when I think I have returned to the light the dark side draws me back  and I’m feeling the blues real bad. The good blues that is. Take a look at this stunning kitchen! Rick blue cabinets and tiles, a vintage vibe, brass, brass and more brass and don’t get me started on those windows. I want to pick the whole thing up and plonk it down in my own home. Kitchen dreams

Long time readers will know I have a thing for English country kitchens or at the very least modern interpretations of them. Today I’m lusting after something different. Part Scandinavian, part retro, a little bit quirky with loads of personality and the warmth of wood and brass. On top of it all it’s beautifully handcrafted with attention to all the little details I never thought I’d care about. My new favourite kitchen is by Copenhagen-based KBH Københavns Møbelsnedkeri.

Favourite things

Polished concrete floors with exposed aggregate, rendered bathroom walls, raw brass, painted brick, breeze block, open plan living. These are a few of my favourite things. Oh I forgot to mention re-imagined retro houses, the  swan-like transformation from tired blonde brick and boxy, dark rooms into stylish, light filled spaces perfect for beachside living.
