Three interiors from Honolulu/San Francisco based interior design firm Philpotts. The first, a loft in SF with a distinct industrial vibe, dare one say, perhaps leaning a little towards steampunk. The second is a teenager’s room where every inch of the small space has been considered and put to use. Love the clever bed nook. Change the colours and accessories to suit your style because this design is a winner or should that be a pinner? Finally an Asian inspired show house room where the firm’s Hawaiian roots are subtly present.

Stylist, art director, interior designer, creative. Many hats, one man – Stef Bakker of the Amsterdam based Studio Bakker. Moody greys, industrial elements, vintage, warm wood and patina. It’s a tactile, stimulating and inspiring.

One day, I have to experience living in a loft. With soaring ceilings, massive windows, exposed brick and concrete…lofts will always be one of my favourite spaces. I fell in love with this dreamy loft, designed by Brazilian architect and designer Luiz Fernando Grabowsky – it has everything I mentioned and more. That storage wall in the kitchen/dining area is gorgeous and totally functional. The art wall over the bed draws your eyes up and is a perfect contrast to the opposing storage wall. LOVE!! Just a little loft on the inner city fringe. Just a small two bedroom apartment in a warehouse conversion in Chippendale in Sydney. Just a small open plan living area and a private balcony with just enough plants to liven up the place. Just enough midcentury furniture mixed with industrial, found objects and art. Just enough to keep me happy… if I was young and carefree and hadn’t hoarded so much junk over my life time! Link here while it lasts.

Gallerist Yuri Psinakis turned to designer Mark McCullough (unfortunately no website yet) when it came time to turn his 3 floor loft in the Soma area of San Francisco from cookie cutter new build into a stylish and sophisticated home. McCullough has created a number of intimate spaces within the box like space using a mature colour palette and rich layering of textures. Psinakis then added the finishing touches from carefully curating an enviable art collection to the smart tableaus dotted around his home. No sterile art gallery existence here but a rich still life for everyday living.
