Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 21 Jun 2010 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send me closeups of your pet!)

Hi, my name is Ana Ferraz, I’m from Brazil and this lovely pet is Bijou, one of my four adopted cats. She is a delicate white princess, an angel with blue vivid eyes. She is so beautiful (I’m a proud mother…rs) that I consider her a essential part of the decoration.
– Ana

This is my dog, Seiko. Doing what she likes the most… yawning
– Karina

I’m sending you a photo of my cat Sofia Coppola on my retro furniture.
Johansen (Olomouc, Czech Republic)

Is this furniture??? The Kitty thinks so. She likes to perch here and look out at the garden…… when she’s not lounging on my floor cushions…. or trying to blend into the sofa. It’s a rustic hand carved bench from Bali. Too big for my house really, but I can’t part with it….or the cat! — We found “Kitty” when she was just a kitten. She’s deaf and was stranded on our roof after a typhoon. She’s 10 years old now and fat!
– Tamara

This is Ponyo, on his favourite look-out spot on our tatami mat. Watching the world go by.
– Min & Eugene

This is our cat Houdini caught plotting his escape!
Alexis & Alex (NYC)

My friend Adelaide, sitting inconspicuously in the morning sun, on a forest green Thalya Chair from Kartell. Hope you like!
Joshua

Attached are two photos of my German Shorthaired Pointer, Lucy, with our king-sized bed all to herself—a rare occasion. Every night, the bed holds my husband, me, Lucy, and our two other German Shorthairs ….
– Karen

Here is a shot of our recently departed, beloved mini schnauzer, Mariah, monopolizing her favorite (and my husband’s, too) red leather chair, passed down from my husband’s grandfather. Sometimes you just have to stretch out and enjoy the ottoman.
– Terry

Here is June with her Buddha. We’ve used an antique twin head board to create a little altar.
– Melissa

Here is Miro, my Great Pyrenees, lost in his thoughts…
– Danielle

This is Omni, who was desperate for attention while I was working feverishly on my dissertation!
– Heather

Ruxo, 9 months Yorkshire with green and yellow clothes ready to cheer for Brazil’s World Cup Football ! The background wallpaper sold in TokStok www.tokstok.com.br
Rodrigo

Here is our rescue cat, Mickey, on our rescue sofa from Craigslist.

AND BECAUSE I THOUGHT THIS WAS HILARIOUS….

On Monday’s Pets on Furniture, I suspected Jeanette had cleverly photoshopped Baron’s image. Which, as you can see, I’ve restored. (ha)

Here is my dog Baron on our Chesterfield.  Sometimes I come home and see him sitting like that waiting for me!  He’s about 100 pounds at 18 months and cuddly like a teddy bear.
– Jeanette

Baleia (adopted dog) on a Florence Knoll armchair.
– Mika (São Paulo, Brazil)

My dog Tyke caught in the act. The Eero Saarinen Womb Chair is a definite no-no, but while I was out Tyke made it a yes-yes.
Bess

here i send you 2 pictures of my “little tulip” chairs by paul paulin with my cats “eimer” (black and white) and “chef” (the grey one) on it, 5 year old sister-cats. chef used to sharpen her claws on it but now – after some damage – she fortunaltely stopped. in addition comes another picture of eimer on my former bookshelf. she loved to be there when visitors where in the apartment. she could overlook everything being in a relatively safe place at the same time.”
– Sabine (Hamburg, Germany)

Here is our precious english bulldog ziggy who lives on all our furniture including our bed…

Marie-Léon, un teckel cubain magnifique qui trône sur tous mes meubles
Paul-André

This siamese kitty is Gros Garcon, aka GG. He is a very kind and laid back fellow who came into my life about 2 years ago, while I was fostering for an animal shelter. He met and befriended his best buddy Petite Fille, aka Mimi, while residing at the shelter, and their relationship was just too sweet for them to part ways when the time came for a permanent home — so I took them both in. They are absolutely adorable and make for great additions to my family.
– Gaelle

This is my co-worker’s King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Henry, asleep on the sofa.  As you can see, he’s getting a lot of work done today in our office.
– Amber

Here’s a picture of my cat on a Quinze & Milan seat
– Hannes

Here are our two lovely cats, Niobe and Louie, breaking in the Room & Board sofa that we just brought home yesterday.
Our mutt, Andy, is getting ready to watch TV in one of our microfiber West Elm armchairs.

– Lauren

my almost 4 year old dog cici (dalmatian mix with pit bull terrier) enjoys the couch…and cici is in her favorite position on the couch, showing off her polka dot pink belly
CeliaSue

Here are photos of my beloved Belgian Shepherd Zoe, enjoying life on the sofa in my home office.  I’ve chosen to make extra covers for the pillows and cushions to keep things clean.

Here is Stella blending right in to the sheep skin on our Bertoia Diamond chair.
– Iris

While Mario the cat (named for Mario Batali due to his both coloring, his rock n roll ‘tude and his gourmet tastes) isn’t technically on people furniture, I thought the fact that he had confiscated Shiloh’s dog bed still counts. After all, it’s a pet on a (pet’s) piece of furniture!
– Emily

Please find attached a picture of our British shorthair cat “Dulce”. Her name means “sweet” in Spanish and that really defines her very well.
– Anne-Cécile & Juan Antonio (Brussels, Belgium)

This is Mose, he is fat. I think it’s the ice cream.
– Jacob

This is Stefy on her favorite pouff. I’ve found her five years ago, very sick, sad and with her three small kittens. Now she’s very healthy and happy, and so are her babies…i have kept them with me all three of them. I have a total number of eight cats, all rescued from terrible situations. My house is small but extremely fun!!
– Bobbi

Here is Flynn enjoying a nap on his favorite chair!
Lisa

Pumpkin resting on my newly upholstered outdoor sofa. He looks great in orange!
– Danielle

Because I didn’t get very many pet entries for this post I thought I’d include some gratuitous photos of some of my cats on various pieces of furniture.
We’ve got Milo on my old dining table, Phoebe on an African camping chair a friend gave me, a plethora of cats scattered about my office, and Edgar asleep on the Ikea-hacked baby changetable.

This is SAM, a vizsla.
– Angie (Argentina)

I should have know our Italian Greyhound Audrey would get the most enjoyment out of our new sheepskin fleeces! You can almost tell she’s just waiting to be booted off… I had only hung them over the chairs a minute before this picture was taken and she made herself right at home immediately!
Louise

Magnolia sitting on the desk I made from 3/4″ plywood, cut to fit the bay widow, sanded then coated in white enamel and bracketed in place.  She loved sitting up there looking down at the street below in Beacon Hill, Boston Massachusetts.  Clear chair and sheep skin throw from IKEA.
Sarah

Mia loves her Eames stacking chair. Sometimes she even lets me sit in it.
– Anna (San Francisco)

This is our boxer called Benia. As you can see in the back (no door) we are in the middle of a little make over in our living room. Befor Benia came to live with us from the shelter this red couch was completly fine and clean and pretty. Now it’s a mess, she’s treating it as her bed, she sleeps there, eats, plays and God knows what else.
– Anna

Our boxer Raven on her 1 yr birthday. She loves relaxing on the couch.”
– Jamie

This is Harry and his favorite afternoon nap location!!
– Sandy

hi there 🙂
– Charlotte

This is my 4 year old blue heller, lab ,border collie mis Felix. The first picture is of him as a pup on our sectional couch which we have since replaced.  We just couldn’t get rid of his couch so we kept the ends and made a love seat for Felix. As you can see Felix is allowed on all of our furniture. He loves being tucked in under the blankets. As far as he is concerned he IS people and don’t you dare tell him otherwise. If you try he will give you the dirtiest look he’s got.”

Attached is a photo of my beautiful rescue cat, Nino Pazzo, sleeping in his favorite spot on my favorite vintage find, a Platner chair. He gets direct sun in that chair all morning and soaks up as much of it as he can. Check out his paw reaching for the last bit of sunlight. What a life!
Christine

This is my boxer Bartolo, when he was 3 months old (he is 9 right now, but still adorable)
– Amparo (Uruguay)

This is my dog Lola, who believes she is human, and sits like a human. She is a very serious, 5 yr old puggle.
– Jessica

I’m Daisy, from Brazil. And this is Milá, my persian cat. In this picture her fur is short. She is on the bench made by myself.
Daisy

Hi, I thought I’d send a pic of my kitties enjoying some quiet times in their favorite chair.  They often fight over the coveted spot, although here we have Mama, Little Bighead, and Noodles napping together peacefully. Naturally, I had to get a picture of the moment.
– Jenny

Bendrix on his favorite chair.
– Meredith (Chicago)

Our pug on the living room couch…
– Heather

I have 5 dogs and 2 cats and trillions of pictures of them on furniture since they are allowed everywhere in the house yet I never thought about sending them until today. This is Michuca, very very sadly she is in hospital right now instead of in my lap because she is very sick at the moment. She is a 10yr old (we believe…)mixed breed cutie. I got her from the humane society 4 years ago and hopefully will be at my side for much much longer.Loves my bed, the couch and anything soft and comfy….if this makes it to the cut I’d like to ask people to send her positive thoughts since her tiny heart is having some trouble and she needs all the positivity and love she can get!
– Gracia and Michuca (Marbella, Spain)

This is Sailor (white) and Mouse (grey). It seems as though they’ve put themselves in a time out for something I’m sure they did wrong.
Sailor basking in the sun.

Sweet Pea was an abandoned stray kitten found in downtown Boise, Idaho in an alley behind a bar.  She was sick and starved, but as you can see, she has fully recovered and is living the good life and loves to hang out in my favorite chair.  I love black and white in my cats and my furniture.
– Lorna

I’ve attached a double-whammy, of Twinky and PJ cuddled on a chair.
– Erin (Vancouver)

This is our 14 year-old Maine Coon/Persian mix, Yanni. He loves to sleep on our couch for hours on end.
