DIMORESTUDIO update

Posted on Thu, 9 May 2019 by KiM

Eclectic decadence with European maximalism flair is how I would describe Dimore Studio. Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran have designed and carried out every project in a personal and recognizable way: objects created by historical design masters live together with reclaimed materials and other “bespoke” objects to create and forge a particular atmosphere. A timeless visual and emotional pathway. Research focused on details makes every creation, sign, proposal, suggestion, innovation and reference simple, albeit sophisticated. A language inspired by a set of emotional alchemies made of unexpected choices, preservation, inventions, appreciation of prints, lights, lacquers and oxidations. An uncensored aesthetic where each item has its own power and expressive “raison d’être”, while representing a part of the ensemble as the protagonist. It has been years since we featured this Milan-based design firm (here, here and here) so here is a look at some spaces we haven’t previously featured.

Country living in the city

This three storey Victorian terrace house in Fulham’s Parsons Green district has been carefully redesigned and redecorated by the Sims Hilditch team to create a feeling of a family home with warmth and character, a city residence full of country charm.

Raspberry ripple

I love raspberries especially when they are not quite ripe.  All the promise of that distinctive red but just a little tart, fresh not cloyingly sweet. Fresh on the palette and in a colour palette. But this is no one note wonder. Colours switch to deep moody greys through to rich deep blues and warming neutrals. Eclectic yet timeless, luxurious yet comfortable, industrial yet glamourous. Another Paris apartment by Desjeux Delaye

Posted on Wed, 28 Feb 2018 by KiM

I continue to crush on the fabulous Parisian apartments the ladies of Desjeux Delaye have designed. I continue to adore the details and the drama and the addition of colour. This dining room (though I’m unsure why it has a sink) is killer! LOVE that shelving! And the mirror!

Take it as “red”

You can definitely take it as read that I love this modern kitchen by Belgian architects B-Bis. The use of primary colours and plywood to delineate the modern insertions within this historic shell is fun and fresh. Not sure that I could do my makeup in the yellow bathroom though. Perhaps it’s a bachelor pad?
