Maintaining original Mediterranean Revival architecture in this gorgeous home in Palm Beach was the best decision the owners and designer Mark D. Sikes could have made. Cypress ceilings, metal railings, decorative bottle-glass faux windows, and even a family crest of dubious origin over the living room fireplace were kept intact. Greens and blues and a bit of coral, some stenciling, hand-painted wallpaper and lots of patterns in tile, upholstery and rugs make this home a bit nautical, a bit old world and layered in a way only a seasoned designer can. “Originally built as a 1920s Spanish Revival, we gave the three-story home a complete overhaul to incorporate modern style and Art Deco influence … The space includes a library, elevator, tasting room, and lower level designed for lengthy stays from family and friends. The centerpiece of the home is a spectacular custom fabricated, curved blackened-steel staircase with bronze top cap that connects all four levels—including the roof deck, with its hot tub and raised vegetable/herb garden.”

Light, glass, Art Deco lines, standout vintage lighting. It all comes together under the design hands of Regan Baker Design to produce an all-enveloping family home over multiple levels.

I have never seen a more vivacious, flamboyant, vivid and spirited home than that of creative consultant Max Hurd in collaboration with designer Benedict Foley. This Victorian terrace house in London could not be more fun and energizing. The attention to detail and the somewhat random colours used throughout his home….someone with a home like this must have such a wonderful outlook on life. I want to be his friend. My mind is once again blown by this modern family home in Montréal’s Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood. Totally unassuming and blending in with the surroundings as la Shed Architecture always does SO WELL. Then you walk inside and Kim has a minor coronary that this is a house in Canada and IT HAS AN INTERIOR COURTYARD. One of my dreams come true.
