The Notting Hill home of designer Matilda Goad

Posted on Fri, 15 May 2020 by KiM

A bit of vintage country is what you’ll find in the Notting Hill home of creative consultant and designer Matilda Goad. Quite feminine and very pretty with a backdrop of pale pink on the walls. Easy on the eyes and extremely relaxed and liveable. Photos by Owen Gale via House & Garden.

An 1800’s farmhouse on Long Island

Posted on Fri, 15 May 2020 by KiM

Leaning towards traditional, this Long Island farmhouse is the perfect weekend refuge. Warm and earth tones set the stage and give off such a calm, peaceful aura. For the first phase of the renovation of an early 1800’s farmhouse on Long Island, we were brought in to bring back the architectural integrity and soul of our client’s home. While the house still had some important elements intact, much of the renovation was focused on adjusting the flow of the rooms and adding architectural bones where they had been removed. A weekend and summer house for a young family, our client desired a colorful palette that felt appropriate during all four seasons of the year. To that end, we filled the rooms with luxurious upholstered furniture that beckons you to sit down and stay while, meanwhile a curated collection of not-so-precious antiques and vintage pieces remind you to kick up your feet and enjoy your cocktail. Another eclectic apartment by Pepe Leal

I am head over heels in love with this apartment. Possibly more than the last one I featured by Pepe Leal. I generally hate blue, but I’m dying over the kitchen. And the photo above – is that moldings installed length wise all over the walls? I’d hate to be the one to clean that, but I love that idea! And the powder room sink setup! So cute!

An eclectic apartment in Madrid

What an absolutely beautiful, vintage-filled apartment this is! Located in Malasaña, Madrid, it is filled with many eclectic and unexpected touches that make it really unique. That screen above is to die for, the sofa cover is GORG (LOVE the draped arms), lots of modern artwork and bits of wallpaper for some added pattern. And there’s even a tree. Designed by Pepe Leal.

Looking forward looking back

I’m taking a little journey back to historic Como House in South Yarra. No not a physical journey, more like a jump back a couple of years to Como By Design, a show house featuring 23 of Melbourne’s eminent interior designers under the helm of Tigger Hall. The magnificent house is owned by the National trust so the designers were not able to alter the fabric of the rooms and had to return them to the original state once the event was over including the original wall colour! The house was completely transformed – 2 days to set up & 1 day to pack down. I’ve embedded links to each designer in the pictures. Time to go for a little journey yourself.
