Normalicious

Posted on Wed, 15 Feb 2012 by KiM

I really enjoy peeking into the homes of “normal” people. I tend to come across too many perfectly styled and designed spaces in my googling for blog material and I love the quirky and rule-breaking spaces that were created by non-designers….like the Berlin home of artists Alicja Kwade and Gregor Hildebrandt (via Freunde von Freunden).

Crushin’

Posted on Wed, 15 Feb 2012 by KiM

Jo and I often express our sudden crushes on talent we come across while researching for our blog posts, and Jo was crushin’ on photographer Chris Court back in July 2010. Well, now it’s my turn to steal him away as I have fallen for his gorgeous photos of interiors. They’re dramatic, moody and stunning. Just how I like my men. 😉 (OOPS – for some reason Jo’s recent post didn’t show up in my searches so several of these pics are repeats and the day job means I don’t have time to come up with a new post so enjoy, again).

What on earth do TVs on walls, Desire to Inspire and Bang & Olufsen have in common? Nothing much except the new BeoVision 10 website. OK OK I’ll preempt this post by saying that if you owned such a stylish TV as the BeoVision 10 you wouldn’t have to worry about how it looked on the wall but Bang & Olufsen have taken it to the next level and asked artist/architect Marco Evaristti and stylist and antiques dealer Anja Alfieri to create a room with what can only be described as television as piece of art. These are the results. Beautiful rooms! Inspirational Living. And Desire to Inspire? We are one of the blogs Bang & Olufsen are crazy about. Those Danes always had good taste 😉

Monday’s pets on furniture – part 2

Posted on Mon, 13 Feb 2012 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet!)

This is Pocket. He’s got a rough life.
– Ken

This is my Boston terrier LuLu, perched on my old high chair.  I had salvaged it from my parents’ house when they retired and repainted it to match my home office.
– Beth (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)

This here is my 2 year old baby boy Chicken making himself at home up on my Laura Ashley bed. He was sleeping moments before this photo was taken, however those big ears hear everything making it almost impossible to sneak up on him to take a picture.
– Carla (Sydney)

The puppy called greta and is the baby of the family!
– Martina (Pigue, Argentina)

Here go two of my pets. Ferrugem – that means rust, in portuguese – loves plants. Frodo – he has fluffy feet – is very lazy and loves a hammock.
– Ludmila (Rio de Janeiro)

Elke @10weeks – German wire haired pointer, dozing/posing on her Shell chair.
– David (Manly NSW)

this is frank kamp.. hangin’ around on his very own stool. easy as always.
– Franzi (Hamburg)

I’m an avid follower and would like to offer a photo of my boy “Guy” on one of my favorite pillows (his too obviously… 🙂 I realize it’s not a piece of furniture, but none the less an important element of most living spaces. I call this shot “Glamour Guy” as it is reminiscent of an old Hollywood movie star glamour photo.
