Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 11 Nov 2013 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!

here are two shots of my silver tabby linus. i inherited the mid century teak chairs from my grandmother (who was ahead of her time) and they were made in italy. one shot is the chair on the original striped fabric, the cat wore through the fabric so I reupholstered it chartreuse knoll fabric.

Here is Yoshi (a Nordic Spitz) relaxing on a LINT and HONEY, honeycomb print pillow.
– Andrea (Toronto, ON)

I’m sending you two pics of my girls’ room with a nice dresser with our cat Boo in it. Boo is a true survivor: He always manages to find somewhere to sleep even though my youngest girl keeps tracking him down and waking him up. His sense of creativity in finding new beds is amazing. Today, he pretended to be a toy cat in their playroom. Didn’t really work.
Maria

I love your monday post and can finally contribute with a photo of Sally our foster greyhound. She is camouflage on our chesterfield (found in the street).
– Margaux + Michael (Glasgow)

This is our bulldog Finley, who is always dissatisfied with our decor decisions.
– Brenna and Andrew (Brooklyn NY)

here is Griffin, a 12 year old Havanese, enjoying a charming chair by the window
– Binnie

this is buffy, my papillon sitting on 1 of my newly covered velvet chairs. the chairs are antique. the velvet I hand painted 20 years ago when I was studying textile design. finally got around to using it!
– Fiona (Victoria, BC)

This is Alf my cat who knows he is not allowed on my lovely armchairs. Today I made an exception as, despite appearances, he is very stressed due to builders doing some work on our house.
– Eira (Johannesburg, South Africa)

My three westies crashed out on my sectional sofa. They are convinced it is a giant dog bed. The second photo I put pirate hats on them for Halloween. I had about 10 seconds to take the photo before they shook the hats off. Victor is one the left, Dennis in the center, and Millie on the right. They are sitting on my favorite apple green, pebbled leather wing chair.
– Julie

Here is a picture of my brother’s cat Larry (left) and my cat Agyness (right). Larry is sitting on a beautiful wing chair inherited from my grandparents – it needs some definite attention (mainly the arms – thank you, cats) and luckily there’s loads of extra fabric underneath the cushion. Larry was over for a week-long visit and this was their first time meeting.
In the first shot, I think it looks as though they’re both sitting for a formal portrait. In the second shot, Larry notices there’s a lurker nearby and Agyness somehow manages to keep her balance in a compromising position. Such drama.

– Brittany (Toronto, ON)

More like pet in furniture. This is our dachshund Paavo who sometimes likes to show he doesn’t agree with us.
– Sari (Finland)

I’m sending you picture of my cats – both adopted – Romeo (ginger & white) from Spca, Auckland and Musya from Rspca, Melbourne.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Canadians are asked to pause in memory of the thousands of men and women who sacrificed their lives in military service.

Fasano Punta del Este

Posted on Mon, 11 Nov 2013 by midcenturyjo

Run away! Run away! Dream of a way to get away. It’s Monday and you’re chained to your work desk. Take a little time to fantasise about Hotel Fasano Punta del Este in Uruguay. A breathtaking setting for a stylish complex designed by Isay Weinfeld. Whether leaning on the sill of the indoor pool or watching the sun go down with cocktails on the deck I’m sure you can escape through your computer screen for just a little while. No one will notice. I promise.
