Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015 by KiM

If you would like to send me photos to include in the next pets on furniture post, please ensure your photos follow these basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net. Thanks!

This is my new kitten Soetkin (Sootie) yawning on my husband’s Patrik Accent chair. It’s protected with a hand loomed serape that my friends brought me from Argentina. The little table was my mother’s. I gilded the base and added a marble top from an off cut of our kitchen counter. The wall is waiting for some art!

My pup (Professor Cumulus – Informally Known As Abbie) is passed out on a Mitchell Gold sofa at the interior design firm where I work. She comes to the office with me every day and this was a long one. More information about the artwork above her is here.

I send photo of my dog: Bella. She is 7 years old. Very funny girl :-), love to run, play with a ball or stick and sleep on her armchair.
– Ania (Poland)

I look forward to this feature every week and while I didn’t have a chance to send photos of our last cat (RIP), I’m happy to submit a couple of pics of our new kitty, adopted from the local shelter about a month ago.  She’s settling in beautifully. In these two photos, Princess Miu Miu is lounging on our Gus Modern sofa, keeping my husband company in his home office.

Below is Ollie, our bengal cat. We have two of these club chairs and they are beside our gas fireplace. Ollie has claimed them as his spot in the winter months.
– Allison (Toronto)

This is Flynn sleeping on my (HIS) bed. We spoil him ridiculously because he had a hard start to life, being tied to an abandoned rental property. We’ve gone through so much with him, including when he chewed the legs of an antique table and when he destroyed brand new, never-worn shoes. He is getting much better, but he still has a trick up his paw every now and then. Can’t imagine life without him!
– De-Arne (Melbourne, Australia)

Thought you might enjoy photos of our Australian Shepherds relaxing on our vintage leather sofa. In the first photograph, Spur has appropriated one of my John Robshaw pillows as his own. In the second pic, both Spur and his brother, Iko, are taking a post-play snooze.

Living the American dream

Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015 by midcenturyjo

Understated elegance with a play of pattern and texture tempered by fresh whites. Obvious attention to detail. At times eclectic but rooted in tradition. Think crisp white sheets with monogrammed pillows, showcase wallpaper in the powder room, dramatic den and a sea of white cabinetry and stone in the kitchen. Family living just so. Sophisticated but comfortable. For someone on the other side of the world this seems the American dream. By interior design firm J.K. Kling Associates.

Rustic and refined

Posted on Sun, 8 Feb 2015 by KiM

There is nothing I like more than a mixture of rustic and modern styles….so I am totally enamoured with this 112 year old renovated home in Toronto featured at Style At Home. Purchased by designer Paula Velez two years ago, the 2800 sq ft home endured a 9 month renovation that included some demolition of walls, the top floor gutted to create a master suite, a ridiculously fabulous kitchen renovation and much more. This home has it all.

Saturday drinks

Drinks tonight? I’d love to come but I can’t. I have to work. You’ll have a fab time at The Nelson. The fitout by Techné Architecture + Interior Design is so cool. Rustic meets maritime meets industrial, distressed and recycled. I’d call in sick to work but I’m the boss. Have a rum for me!
