Stalking a warehouse

Posted on Thu, 16 Apr 2015 by midcenturyjo

I always get excited when I stumble upon a warehouse conversion when I’m out real estate stalking. I get even more excited when the end result lives up to my hyped up expectations. Someone please lend me the money to buy this home in Melbourne’s Hawthorne East. It’s a grownup warehouse. Seriously stylish. I’d love to see it in real life because I’m sure the photos don’t do it justice. Link here  while it lasts.

The element of surprise

Posted on Thu, 9 Apr 2015 by KiM

I love the element of surprise in a space. A modern chair pulled up to a early 1900s wooden desk. A graphic piece of art hanging above granny’s old rocker. A sleek glass dining table with an antique brass chandelier hanging above. I laughed when I stumbled upon these photos.

The loft space is heavenly but anyone with no sense of imagination would then fill it top to bottom with industrial decor (ok, this is probably an ad for Restoration Hardware or something similar so they can get away with it). I’ll forgive those responsible as I freaking LOVE those chesterfields and all that exposed brick.. (Photos by Scott Gabriel Morris)

Warehouse stalking

I’m stalking an apartment in Fitzroy’s iconic MacRobertson building. Can Melbourne living get any more hip? The listing photographs, though good, do not reveal the true beauty of this space… the light. For that make sure you watch the video. Link here while it lasts.

The Recycled House

Built from recycled materials and designed to accommodate the owners’ love of warehouse living the Recycled House in Perth, Western Australia is by Etica Studio. While the design takes its reference from the surrounding art deco buildings the result is contemporary and stylish open plan living with sustainability in mind.

Stalking the 70s

Posted on Mon, 2 Mar 2015 by midcenturyjo

Exposed brick and knotty pine cathedral ceilings, split level with walls of windows framing the views of native bush. I’m stalking the 70s in Sydney’s Castle Cove. The Erby House by Jonathan Erby of Devine Erby Mazlin completed 1971. A time capsule waiting to swing again. In my dreams I’m the new owner filling it full of 70s classics and inviting you all round for a fondue party. (If it ever was mine, hand on my heart, I would promise not to paint anymore of the pine.) Via Modern House.
