Week after week we are compelled to stay home in these dangerous times. Some of us have no choice but to go out into the big, bad world to help others or keep the wheels turning. Strangely we are all heroes. Those who bravely work and those who responsibly stay in to stop the spread of COVID-19. Our thoughts though should also turn to those who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own. They are the often forgotten victims of this tragedy. One day, on the other side, I hope we all have somewhere we can whinge about when we drag ourselves into work on a weekend. It won’t matter if it’s stylish or butt ugly. What will matter is that life returns to “normal” and if we’re lucky towards something a little better, a little kinder, a little more stable. Oh and I lied. It’s always better to go to work on a Saturday somewhere stylish like these sophisticated offices by Henry Francis Design.

I have been a huge fan of designers Pierre Emmanuel Martin and Stéphane Garotin of Maison Hand for many years. Everything they touch is magic. Whether light or dark or a mix of both, their projects are always fabulous. Their latest 75 m² apartment in Lyon, France that they renovated is rough around the edges with lots of black and dark earthy tones and might be my favourite of all. I am intrigued by the wacky layout of the kitchen.

Love the dark and light drama of this 1920s renovated home in San Francisco’s Sea Cliff neighborhood. Once you can manage to get past that dining room photo above that is. 😉 By Regan Baker Design. [Our client] and her husband purchased the house and embarked on a full-scale renovation, seeking to blend her preppy aesthetic and his love of modern elements. Through the process, we helped them find a cohesive balance between their style preferences, creating a sophisticated, contemporary residence for our clients and their young daughters. In the living room, we took a tone-on-tone approach, painting one accent wall and all of its traditional, existing, trim one color: a dramatic, deep, navy blue. Heirloom, antique furnishings are used throughout the home alongside more contemporary design choices that keep these spaces feeling fresh and bright.

They call it Paris in Paddington. I call it a fabulous example of a glamorous and moody inner city Sydney pad. It’s another luxury Australian home available for short term getaways via LUXICO, the home hotel.

I think I have died and gone to heaven. This home I spotted on sköna hem is so incredibly beautiful with floor to ceiling architectural moldings (including a coffered ceiling unlike any I have ever seen) and when painted dark grey, they are even more dramatic and modern. Add in some modern furniture and lighting (the owners clearly have a thing for Knoll’s Saarinentulip tables and Flos lights) and this is a total dream.
