The barefoot house

Posted on Thu, 14 May 2020 by midcenturyjo

Experiential design. For Melbourne based designer and stylist Georgia Ezra of Studio Ezra it’s that feeling you get as you walk barefoot across a tiled floor, a feeling of connecting with the earth. It’s how the decor makes your hear sing, of how you live your life well in a well designed space. In her own family home it’s also about those tactile plastered walls, the bespoke joinery and those oh so beautiful tiles.

Looking forward looking back

I’m taking a little journey back to historic Como House in South Yarra. No not a physical journey, more like a jump back a couple of years to Como By Design, a show house featuring 23 of Melbourne’s eminent interior designers under the helm of Tigger Hall. The magnificent house is owned by the National trust so the designers were not able to alter the fabric of the rooms and had to return them to the original state once the event was over including the original wall colour! The house was completely transformed – 2 days to set up & 1 day to pack down. I’ve embedded links to each designer in the pictures. Time to go for a little journey yourself.

California dreaming in Newport Beach, high above the water. Warm summer days and outdoor spaces, high style and easy living. Understated sophistication, laid back yet luxurious. Dolphin Terrace by Kelly Nutt Design.

Making a dramatic entrance

From the dramatic entrance to the sophisticated kitchen to the spa-like bathroom, from the luxury finishes to bespoke joinery, from the carefully restored old to the well considered Sydney-based interior designer Jillian Dinkel has created something very special indeed. This 1904 Victorian boldly broaches the 21th century, a dramatic entrance indeed.
