Loft love

Posted on Mon, 23 Sep 2019 by midcenturyjo

Can it be love at first sight? Can I be so smitten with a home? Let’s just take a moment to take it all in. A loft. Tick. In New York. Goes without saying. Exposed brick walls. Also another given but then a light infused, dreamy interior that mixes industrial with boho, modern with artisan? Swoon. If I had to sell my soul to the devil for just one space I think it might just be that marble and brick kitchen. Soho Loft by Tina Rich Design.

Move towards the light

Posted on Fri, 30 Aug 2019 by midcenturyjo

It’s a little slice of heaven. A NYC loft with fabulous bones and an interior by design firm Sissy + Marley. Light floods in through arched windows while oak floors and exposed beams enhance the industrial feel. One moment it’s dramatic, the next serene but always a chic, always inspiring, family home. If luxury loft living in the Big Apple has been a dream of yours I suggest you move towards the light.

A renovated barn in Quebec

In Mont Owl’s Head, Quebec, lived an old barn that had lost its way and fallen into ruin. The owners (who live in an adjacent home), wanting to save the barn, decided to have it renovated so their children could enjoy it. La Firme was brought on board to bring it back to life and the resulting 30 ft height structure is the coolest hangout in town.

A small modern apartment in Moscow

This 40 m² apartment in Moscow is a flawless example of how to maximize space when there isn’t much to work with. Cartelle Design used a grey base and added bits of colour with a bold AF yellow bed and platform, a red mirror in the hallway and pretty pink tile in the bathroom. High ceilings and large windows across the apartment help to make it feel larger and loft-like. Love this.

I love to see people take risks in the world of interior design, even if it isn’t to my taste nor something I can imagine living in. If it’s ballsy I give it 2 thumbs up. Like this all black apartment in St. Petersburg I found on The Village. Black from floor to ceiling, sparkly drippy chandeliers, swag burgundy curtains and bedding. I hate to say it but had I not known what website this was from my first guess would have been it was located in Russia. Do you think you could live here?
