Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015 by KiM

If you would like to send me photos to include in the next pets on furniture post, please ensure your photos follow these basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net. Thanks!

This is my new kitten Soetkin (Sootie) yawning on my husband’s Patrik Accent chair. It’s protected with a hand loomed serape that my friends brought me from Argentina. The little table was my mother’s. I gilded the base and added a marble top from an off cut of our kitchen counter. The wall is waiting for some art!

My pup (Professor Cumulus – Informally Known As Abbie) is passed out on a Mitchell Gold sofa at the interior design firm where I work. She comes to the office with me every day and this was a long one. More information about the artwork above her is here.
Jessica

I send photo of my dog: Bella. She is 7 years old. Very funny girl :-), love to run, play with a ball or stick and sleep on her armchair.
– Ania (Poland)

I look forward to this feature every week and while I didn’t have a chance to send photos of our last cat (RIP), I’m happy to submit a couple of pics of our new kitty, adopted from the local shelter about a month ago.  She’s settling in beautifully. In these two photos, Princess Miu Miu is lounging on our Gus Modern sofa, keeping my husband company in his home office.
– Laura

Below is Ollie, our bengal cat. We have two of these club chairs and they are beside our gas fireplace. Ollie has claimed them as his spot in the winter months.
– Allison (Toronto)

This is Flynn sleeping on my (HIS) bed. We spoil him ridiculously because he had a hard start to life, being tied to an abandoned rental property. We’ve gone through so much with him, including when he chewed the legs of an antique table and when he destroyed brand new, never-worn shoes. He is getting much better, but he still has a trick up his paw every now and then. Can’t imagine life without him!
– De-Arne (Melbourne, Australia)

Thought you might enjoy photos of our Australian Shepherds relaxing on our vintage leather sofa. In the first photograph, Spur has appropriated one of my John Robshaw pillows as his own. In the second pic, both Spur and his brother, Iko, are taking a post-play snooze.

This is a photo of our Scottie, Greyson on a refurbished ottoman. Any piece of furniture close to a window tends to be his favorite place to watch for evil squirrels. He’s our wee hero.
Pat (Carleton Place, ON)

Here are a couple of pictures of our beloved 2-year-old beagle puppy named Glasha. She is a big fan of Eames side chairs! 🙂
– Maria (Russia)

Here’s the lovely late Cyla on her (and my) favourite chair. After a very hard life, this lovely one-eyed pit bull had three divine final years surrounded by love and fine design 🙂
– Liz

🙁 RIP Cyla

This is my cat Loomis, who was a rescue from the local shelter. He turned out to be a bit more troubled than expected, but time (and medication) have softened his fears, and things are turning around for the better. In the first photo, he is perched in his favorite warm weather spot, reaching out for and basking in a rare moment of dappled Seattle sunlight. In the second, he turns his attention to me. He is under an enormous painting of Vladimir Lenin, a favorite Ebay find of mine.
– Tamara

I’m sending you two photos with my cat named L’Oficial. In the first one, he is sitting on an old 60s armchair and beside there’s one recycled Marcel Breuer recovered with a coloured clothing. In the second one, he’s beside an oriental fish-shaped bench (I don’t know exactly where it’s from).
– Sara (Seville, Spain)

Introducing Ursa, our elegant German Shepherd, aka Mrs. Kaufman. She is devoted as you can see, to Mr. Kaufman.
– Kari (the other Mrs Kaufman, NYC)

Here is a picture of my Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier – Miss Darcy – in her New Year’s Eve outfit sitting on our 4 poster mahogany bed. The collar lasted all evening but the “Fascinator” only made it to 30 seconds before it was gone!
– Cheryl (Prince Edward County, ON)

Here is my 7 year old rescue cat Tang lounging on his favourite chair – a wishbone reproduction.
– Kimmy

Our two miniature schnauzers relaxing on Grandma’s couch in Northern Wisconsin
– Timberly

This isn’t the most technically beautiful picture.  But this is the first time my beautiful greyhound, “Harri-Berri” has been caught nesting on my bed when I was not home.  My pups are not allowed on the furniture and they KNOW it.  However…Miss Harri takes full advantage of the comfort of my bed when I’m away.  We all know she does it; the arrangement of pillows and down comforters when I get home, are the unmistakable evidence.  This photo was snapped by my housemate on her phone and sent to me.  :o)  Doggie indulgence—Priceless!
Toni

It’s tough to work from home when I have these babies looking at me. Sadie is a Blue Heeler Hound mix pleading for a belly rub. Zuzu is a Rat Terrier imploring me to get off my computer and PAY ATTENTION! Sadie loves to sprawl on the mid century sofa I found in a thrift shop.
– Susan (Saint Paul, MN)

P.S. Some of you may know I have been feeding some stray kittens since I discovered them in the dilapidated garage of a home I walk by on my way to/from work. My husband took a video while we stopped to feed them before doing errands yesterday – you can view it on my page. Good news – a local resuce organization called The Avery Foundation has offered to help rescue them! (Bad news – in the video their mom makes a rare appearance and looks to be VERY pregnant)

This is some photos of our loveable rescue pup Willow. She is a rather spoilt pup but normally isn’t allowed on the couch! I couldn’t resist getting a shot of her in our recently redecorated lounge room. She is sitting under a piece of art I got from Ideal Art, a company that is local to us.
– Kylie (Ringwood, VIC, Australia)

1. Beo, our 10 years old cat is lounging on our vintage arm chair
2. Beo, sitting on a Danish design chair
3. Beo is chilling on the chair, while Sam is sleeping on the floor
4. Emi is trying her luck sitting under Beo, by the couch
– Alina (Norway)

This is our dog Claudio or Mr. C, sitting on his favorite womb chair in Mill Valley, California
– Tamara

This is our baby, Chewy, sleeping on our Cassina Maralunga sofa
– Imelda

sending you special picture of my French bulldog Borja,  three years old on my morroco seat 🙂
– Arnela (Slovenia)

These two cats seem to find the hottest spot in this heat and then act dead.  Better to let sleeping cats lie,????
– Deon (South Africa)

I’m breaking my own rule – you can’t see much furniture in this photo but it’s all I have since last week and I kind of love it. Featuring Mimin.

This is our french bulldog son named “Demetrio” at home:
1 –
Sitting on our Eames side chair.
2 – Next to our Stark Louis Ghost chair (when he was just a baby!).
3 – Lying on mom’s bed.

– Roy, Gaby & Demetrio (Guanajuato, México)

These are two pictures of my 13 year old English Bulldog “Kwyjibo”  He loves my Andrew Martin chesterfield sofa with flag
– Adam (Brooklyn, NY)

1 – Bob
2 – Cat on chair

– Patricia

here come some pictures of pets on furniture. With our cat Festis. Pictures feature: Tolomeo lamp (Artemide) + Snoopy Lamp (Flos) and Helmut Newton Book + Eames glass fiber shell and dowel leg chair
– Claudia

My miniature poodle Lola poses in front of the bookcase.
– Rita

I snapped this photo with my phone last week while I was taking a break from the sofa (I was really sick for about 8 days straight). My spot was taken in merely minutes – by Milo, Felix and Mimin along the back. Best seat in the house I guess, especially when I warmed it up for them.
